Yes, exactly. Make sure you use plenty of QD. If you rub the clay on dry paint it will mar the paint and it won't be a pretty sight in the sun.

As long as you use plenty of QD, you will be fine!

Clay scratches when it drags grit across the paint without lubricants (quick detailer). Do you guys wash again after claying?

I usually don't. I just wipe the panel down with a product called Optimum No Rinse. You could use some QD to clean up the panel.

Optimum No Rinse is an awesome product! Perfect cleaning solution during winter time. It's also versatile because aside from being your no-rinse shampoo, it can also be used as a clay lubricant and QD (just dilute it properly). So it actually saves you $$$ and shelf space since you don't have to buy those products separately.

Yeah, it is a very good product. I've heard that you can also add it to your existing wash shampoo water to soften the water...

What do you think about this?

I might try it just to add some more lubricity to the wash water in addition to Griots Garage Shampoo.

Yes, that's another use for it. But IMO, unless you really have hard water in your area, I think it's just a waste of product since the Griots Garage Shampoo already has good lubricity as it is.

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. I don't have hard water where I live so IDK. I might just give it a go one time. Maybe 1oz per 2 gallons of water like I do for my Griots Wash.

Sorry for thread jack OP, we just love detailing!

Nope, you still need water to dilute it with, just like any other car shampoo. The cool thing is that you don't have to rinse it, just wipe it dry. So it's perfect for cleaning your car inside the garage during the winter months.

Yeah, what he said! Just be careful of how dirty your car is when you use this product. While it does offer great lubricity, too many surface contaminants can and will scratch your paint.
