Where to hook up boost gauge
I was wondering where a good spot might be to hook up a boost gauge. Im hoping that there might be a vacuum line I can hook into, and any ideas on what gauge pod works on our pillar.

2 places to hook up boost. at the y pipe under the t/b or in one of the manis. both req. drilling and tapping a hole. then insert eother a sensor vacuum operated or an electrical sensor to go to a dashdaq or something similar

Thanks for the replies, I was afraid of hearing about having to drill an tap but I think thats the only two places to get a boost reading. I found out that the two ports on the back of s/c arent on the boost side.

Or if you have an iPhone use the Rev application, reads from your OBDII port.

dashdyno, dashdaq, innovate, zeitronix are all dataloggers that can read boost. a sensor a vacuum line a gage and a backlight power supply will get you boost
reading boost from the obdII will be somewhat accurate but the sample rate is painfully slo on the era of cars we have.

Dashdaq can read boost no problem from the OBD2 port. Only problem is, as mentioned above, the data transfer is super slow. You won't be able to read much else from the OBD2 port that requires a quick refresh rate. It's fine for monitoring temperature, not so great for RPM, Speed, TP, Boost or AFR. Tapping a boost source is a major pain, that's why I opted for the dashdaq and not a seperate boost gauge. BTW, the nipple towards the back of the S/C is vaccum only, no boost.
I basically run a screen just showing boost and AFR (on an analog signal) and it still runs quite slow. I've contacted Drewtech about it and they don't know what the problem is. Looks like it could just be our cars.

I tapped the boost line directly into the rubber coupler for y-pipe. Been running it like that for over a year without any issues. All had to do was poke a small hole in the coupler and slip the plastic boost line in. Quick, and easy no need for dismantling, drilling, etc...

I use an Itouch as my boost gauge and it also displays 4 other gauges/info at the same time. And it is wireless and if any codes pop up I can also read and erase the codes.
