ACK! Center Console Rattles

I'm starting to develop some rattling over bumps and it sounds like it is coming from the center console around the comand system, climate control system or the buttons on top of the comand system below the vents..

Any ideas what I can do? Will the MB dealer handle this for me?

Any quick fix w/o going to the dealer?

I have some minor sound coming from the comand console and the surroundings. Mine sounded more like the aluminum/metal cover of the entire center console is loosing the adhesiveness on the back. Basically, when I apply force on a section of the metal panel, I hear a squeeking noise; this is especially noticeble along the edges.

Best of luck trying to ask the dealer fix those noise related issues. So far, non of my noise related problems (steering wheel column, suspension, center console, etc) have been addressed.

Same issues

I have the same sort of rattles with my car. They're definitely coming from around the climate control unit. Dealer tells me that they can't hear anything wrong. Its been in 3 times for the rattle issues. I've given up...it's just not worth the hassle.

DIY for fixing some rattling issues....

Sorry for bringing an old thread back to life, I have experienced these rattling issues and have managed to resolve some of them, your best bet is to have someone drive your car while you listen, you'd be suprised how sound travels around, I though I had a rattling sound coming from the center console when it was actually the passenger's headrest, just had to pull it out, carefulle pull apart the two metal rod and put it back.

Also applying a tiny bit of felt in between the 2 plastic covers on your rearview mirror ( push it in with something really thin like a very sharp and thin knife) should solve the problem

The most annoying rattle was coming from the steering column, If you remove the speedometer you will see 2 very thin metal clips pulling on the plastic covering around your steering wheel colum ( the rippled pieces that pulls in when you move the steering column up or down) these 2 metal pieces hits the intrument cluster plastic bottom, so stickinga very thin felt material on your instrument cluster will eliminate this issue..

Hope this helps. I have yet to resolve the rattling/ticking sound coming from the center console, will post when I do get some time to gut it out
