I have actually been thinking about doing the same trade off recently. I have loved the new body GTO since they first released them and after looking into them a bit more I could definately see myself driving one on a daily basis. Right now in the C32 around town I can only seem to get about 14.8mpg being nice (Not so awesome with gas prices right now) and I know that the LS2 is actually surprisingly economical especially on highway. Not to mention the sound of raw N/A V8 is beutiful!

Yes, I too have noticed better MPG readings when going easy on the GTO. Was surprised myself as it does better than the manufacturer ratings. Think a custom intake on the LS2 gains you a few MPG. I can average 18 city and 26 highway in it. Go for a manual transmission if you can. Like to skip gears usually go from 1st, 3rd, 5th, and then 6th at 40+MPH while city driving. That gets me slightly over 18MPG. Good to have when it cost $50 to fill a tank. Just had the radiator replaced on GTO yesterday. Was leaking coolant. Alternator is noisy too but they said it's fine...

You guys are slightly better off than us. I pay NZ$110 just to fill my mr2 which is about US$85 or so with these exchange rates.

Us Americans like to complain about gas prices even though we have it cheaper than a lot, LOL... So I went to use the A/C today and it wasn't working. They screwed something up doing the radiator. Back to service next Tuesday when I'm off work...

Although I don't post on here often it is sad that this section was once the busiest and most forward thinking of them all (well next to the W211 forum). Thennn the C63 came out and everyone sold off for the new model or changed makes. Such a bummer

As the cars age, the number of exiting examples dwindles and the demographic of owner changes.
Sad.
