Flapping noise at 2K revs Only when cold weather
Hello,
Annyone experienced a flapping like noise (I'd say coming from the engine) when at around 2K revs during colder conditions (50-60F)
If so, what is it and can I get rid of it?
Thanks!

Define flapping? I think of a large bird such as vulture flying over me in the desert as I walk on the 3rd day without food or water ready to eat me when the end comes... More seriously though my C32 has been feeling like it has a "cold" during these cold winter days...

Tempo=250 beats per minute
Sound=Close but not exactly to someone banging on the space bar of an old PC keyboard.
Volume= Noticiable enough to bother me but cannot be heard if window is open driving below 30.

lifters not up to full oil pressure when cold causes the tapping sound above 2K.

Nothing to fix, since MB has changed the oil formulations from 0W-40 to 5W-40, the increased viscosity when cold prolongs the warm up time. Just warm the car up and don't rev or 2K until temps are up.

I know I get a ticking noise on the passenger side when it is very cold or when the car has sat for a couple days. It is right on start up and lasts until the oil pressure is built up, this is at idle, I am almost 100% sure that it is a lifter ticking.. It is high up in the motor and sounds like a nail stuck in a tire ( best description) Once the pressure is up it goes away.
I have noticed a ticking/tapping sound (very similar to the sound in the link Budget Baller posted) when I accelerate ( when the car is warm), it is around 2k and it sounds very similar to an exhaust leak but I dont think it is that and its hard to pinpoint because I cant hear it once the windows are down but it seems to be on the pass side.
Budget Baller, any idea what that sound is coming from? I have taken a video of my car and it makes the exact noise, Was curious as to what it was.
Thanks,
Andrew

I know the sound you're talking about exactly. My car does it on cold days also. It's more pronounced when pressing on the gas pedal hard. Have you found the cause?
