SRS Malfuction and Tele Aid SOS malfunction
I have two messages on my c55 that read SRS Malfuction and Tele Aid SOS malfunction. A local mb shop took my steering wheel off to fix the dogbone link in the motor for the steering column. Now I'm getting these messages two days later, and the mb shop is refusing to cover it. I took it to another mb shop to see if star could find what was wrong and it said there was no connection found for the airbags. Anyone have any ideas what could've been left disconnected? Or anything else that might be the issue? Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

If you have access to a friend/shop with a STAR Diagnostics machine, you can just turn the TeleAid off completely, assuming you don't have a phone hooked up to it.
I've been told the following sequence is how to get to it for a C32; not sure if it's different for a C55 - INSTRUMENT CLUSTER -> CONTROL UNIT ADAPTATIONS -> TELEAID = NOT PRESENT.

Its not the teleaid that's causing the problem its probably the srs module. Ive dealt with this similar problem 4 other times. The reason the teleaid warning is on is because its missing the crash signal from srs module.

I wasn't saying that it was - I was just offering a solution to the TeleAid pop-up on the dash for now.

I'd be less concerned with the light and more concerned that one of your airbags may not be working

You will get a SRS fault if the module doesn't see the airbag when powered up. On the '88 560SL I can clear the fault with a paper clip but suspect that it's not so easy on the w203.

The first day I bought my car the TeleAid SOS Malfunction warning came up. I had my shop try to shut it completely off on two occasions with their STAR Diagnostics, but I still have the error. The SOS Teleaid is displayed and the button on the headliner illuminates red. I have never had the SRS warning personally. I suppose the dealer is always there (did anyone get this shut off at the dealer?), but I would like to hear how others solved this. I have checked fuses and the splitter in the trunk also... Any help is much appreciated!!

I may be having my SRS looked at soon at my friendly neighborhood indie and if I do, I'll make sure to have them try this out with their STAR and report back.

Ok guys. I had an appointment setup with the local MB dealer for this morning, 8am Saturday, to get my SOS Teleaid light shutoff. Fully familiar with the simple input needed to shut it off, but sadly sans Star equipment- I was looking forward to getting it fixed...
So, yesterday afternoon I get a voicemail from their service manager saying "we cannot shut that light off, it is a safety device - don't bother bringing in the car tomorrow"
An hour and a half later, I get an especially comical call: "we actually can do that, but you need to sign a waiver (which Ive heard about -fine) and we can only do it during the week. (?!?) It is an difficult job and you need to leave the car with us for an entire weekday."
When things calmed down at the firm and I actually could check my personal messages, I about died. Holy crap...

*edit* Did C55s have a built-in antenna or something similar to communicate through TeleAid?

I'm assuming it did, but it never worked for me. This is my first experience with any MB dealer as I have been taking care of everything I can myself. This really put me off- of course by the time I got the message they were closed. Nice of them to cancel their appointment with me because the 'ceremony' needs to be conducted on a week day

Also, you need a subscription to TeleAid annually, like with OnStar and systems like that, but on the C32s (and W203s in general, I would imagine), you also needed a specific MB-branded cell phone (Motorola StarTAC IIRC) that plugs into a little dock within the center console. This is what enabled it to "call out" when you would press the button. The C55's and their ilk likely had some sort of permanent call-out hardware built in from the factory, though.

The fact take it takes literally seconds to turn this off is pretty well documented, don't they know this?!? I have a nearly identical service bulletin released when cars had issues going from analog to digital. That lists warranty service billing as 0.3 hrs. The fact that I asked for this specifically and cited their Star Diagnostics- and they still try to run me around...

Ok, back again:
Has anyone with an 2005 C55 been able to clear the Teleaid SOS warning with the STAR tool? My car is an early '05, with the PO taking delivery in October 2004 and I have taken it to two indie mechanics and had help from a forum member trying to clear the light. There is just no option for "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER -> CONTROL UNIT ADAPTATIONS -> TELEAID = NOT PRESENT" Last time we looked for quite a while through the menus available on STAR...
So, maybe the dealer wasn't kidding about it taking a couple hours since they were figuring on going in an replacing my antenna splitter.
I checked the splitter a while back, isn't it near the fuse box on the drivers side of the trunk?!? Make sure I'm looking at the right thing I guess I will dig back in there again.. Now my radio is acting up after even the slightest bit of wet weather. Anyone try to seal the antenna to the rear window with silicone or something to prevent further moisture from getting in?

Ok I have all carpet out of the trunk. Any help on the splitter location would be incredibly appreciated. I thought I had it on drivers side by the fuses, but I'm not so sure now... Thanks for any leads at all!
