Went to the C-Spot party in D.C.
Anyway, a while back I posted pics of Jon's stock calipers after they turned gold. There was a lot of discussion as to why they did this and if something was wrong with him or the brakes and it turns out this is a normal occurrence when you drive the car hard. At the C-spot event we noticed every one of the c32's they were using had the golden caliper syndrome. Yet and still the driver I spoke said he had the utmost confidence in the brakes. Anyhow, here are a few pics of the calipers .....As far as the brakes, I wonder if you'd have the same issue with a (non OE) more high performance brake fluid. I wore out my brakes at the the Summit Point DE (needed rotors and pads front and rear) but didn't discolor the calipers. I was running ATE Super Blue. Could that be the difference?
Was Jon running OE brake fluid when he first turned the calipers gold?

Why was it a let down?
Did the brakes get so hot or is it after they cooled down?
And the calipers didn't turn gold before our eyes, it happens over time (they were like that when we got there). And yes they heat them up pretty good all day long.
Carl - I'll let Jon answer that question about the fluid I cannot remember right off.
