Another terrible pointman thread: dash light brightness...
Holy crap a night and day difference, it's like a whole new car now. The dimmer was all the way down.

Thank you, pointman. I now feel like a badass.
In theory, many people suggest that the brightness of the cluster should NOT be set at the maximum/highest level when driving at night. If you stare at the bright cluster a lot while driving, your eyes (pupil dilatation) are no longer optimized for driving in the dark, which will decrease your ability to see fine details in the dark road ahead. When driving on a very dark road with no street lights, the cluster can be lit very minimially.
I think this only applies when you are driving in very dark situation, with no street lights. If everything is lit up ahead, it probably doesn't make a big difference.
My cluster is set a bit below the maximum light level.

All my cars, I've set the brightness to max. I just like seeing my instruments. In my....let's just say "many", years of driving, I don't recall ever having a blown dash bulb. And, my C32 is 11 years old..with good bulbs.

Am I the only one that likes to read the owner's manual, cover to cover, the day he gets a new car? Guess so.
I've found it a good way to get a feel for a car's ins and outs prior to seeing one in person. Okay, maybe I skimmed through portions of it, but there is a wealth of information in there that is worth reading. I have given them a good read after I actually get the car too.
