Anyone try an exhaust cutout?

Just heard a QTP cutout on a buddy's C55. Sounds pretty good and I like how you can get some noise without having to live with it on a daily basis. Since the C32 really gets no performance gain from an aftermarket exhaust this seems like a cool option to consider.

Does anyone have any experience with exhaust cutouts? Where to put them or how they sound on the C32?

Not sure why you say that C32 really gets no performance gain from an aftermarket exhaust. If you add more air comming in, you have to open up the exhaust. So, there are gains to be had, but there are a lot of other factors. But getting back to the cutouts, here is a link to what is being sold for srt-6. (Not the same car, but the same drivetain).

Here is what Rob is saying "We saw an increase of 2-3 mph thru the ¼ mile and a drop of 2 tenths ET’s with these downpipes with the cutouts open on our SRT6".
I just installed the cutouts (not the ones above) but unfortunatly don't have any hard numbers yet. Broke my axle in November at MIR after only 4 runs. The setup is crazy. I do see how you like it.

From what I read the resonator delete, secondary cat delete, and aftermarket cat-back exhausts do not add power on a C32. Only headers give a significant power increase. All those mods do add quite a bit on a C55 supposedly.

I think the info from the NW link is skewed because the cutouts were installed on aftermarket downpipes. I'm sure we'd gain some power with NW downpipes for the C32. Just wish they made those.

Could you explain where in the exhaust you installed the cutouts and share a video of the sound?

That's what I understand too. If you go to larger pipes, you can lose a lot of torque.
I'm actually pretty happy with the way my car sounds, but may someday delete my secondary CATS. Just not sure how it will affect my smog readings.

I counted the primary cats and headers as part of the exhaust. But I see what you mean and I agree.
I don't have any videos or sound clips. May be will make some this weekend. But here are the picturs of the cutouts before I installed them. The cutout pipes had to be trimmed a bit before the install since they were way too low (still low).

Tuning exhaust is like black magic. Think 10 times before you do anything.

I just had them installed and have not gotten under the car for pics yet.

Here is the audio though.
