Need Advice on a 2002 C32

I was searching craigslist and came across a 2002 C32 in Silver with black interior and couldn't help to notice that the car look well maintained, my only dilemma is the mileage. The car has 149k and the owner specifies that it runs like a beast he also wants $8k for it, if what he says is true that the car still runs close to new what are some problems im looking at in that milage range. Am i to expect to have to overhaul? Thanks!

Side note: Im basically new here, (this is my first post) so hello to all!

Price seems a little on the high side for the mileage, I picked up my 02 for 5500 with some front end damage and 115k. It has been great up until a week ago and now is going to need valve/head work or a new engine, check out the thread on the 02 cams as well as the threads on the Valeo radiator issue. I changed my radiator when I bought the car and found out it has already been replaced but you should check to see if it has been done.

Yeah i have been hearing a lot about the Valeo issue, is there anything else i should be worried about as far as a normal issue for these cars or should i just keep looking for a lower mileage C32 Although the closest lower mileage is in Georgia

Luckily my radiator had been replaced in 04 with the new one so I dont think my c32 was ever exposed to the issue however I replaced mine when I bought the car in March as a precaution, plus it never hurts! I also found when I bought the car with 115k that the air filters had NEVER been replaced which was horrifying. Another thing that I am experiencing is a leak in the intercooler, the one under the supercharger not the heat exchanger behind the bumper. Problem is there is not way to really check it without pulling the AMG plenums off which isn't hard but the gaskets should be replaced after doing that. I just went through all of this in March when I bought mine and unfortunately the car is now going to cost me anywhere from 1-3k to fix, I dont want to turn you off from the car I absolutely love mine but I would look into an 03 04 with less than 120k It will probably save you more in the long run

You can pickup a C55 in the 10-13k range right now if you wanna go that route. I like the C55 over the C32. Less issues/problems, although you can tune the c32 and increase boost.

Run away!!!! Mine had an ABS module crap out, Seat modules, Navigation, IC pump, trunk release motor, 2 door lock actuators, Trans shifted funny until warmed up, Supercharger bolts came loose, New alternator, tensioner, Supercharger bearing and many other issues. At this point in a C32's life its a big risk getting into an 2002 and will nickel a dime you to death!

2002 C32 AMG
I've had my 2002 C32 (53K miles) for about two months now and it has had zero issues with exception to the lower cushion seat heaters not working on either side. Car looks nearly new outside and as new inside right down to the smell.

The biggest issue I have is traction, the car has way too much power for all season performance tires.

Previous owner did replace the radiator, pulleys, belts, IC Pump and other known failure points.

If you buy it under the assumption that you will need to spend $2 - $4k to catch up on maintenance and any known failure points you will have a reliable and fast car which is tunable.
