NEW C32 questions

Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Jason and I'm 21 years old from Toronto, Canada. I'm in the market for a C32 AMG because my previous (an Acura Type-R) car was recently stolen. After doing some homework for a new car, I fell in love with the C32 and decided it would make quite the worthy replacement. I've got a couple of questions regarding purchasing the car from a dealer.

1) How much of a difference does the BOSE sound system make? There is a white C32 at a local dealership with every option I wanted, except for the Bose system, and basically I'm wondering if the system is really worth the wait for a '04 (which should be arriving by Novemeber).

2) Would I be able to purchase the CL-looking grill and AMG hood emblem from the dealer or are thay aftermarket parts which would have to be purchased elsewhere?

Thanks guys,

Jason

I think the BOSE system is ok, but not spectacular. Depends on what your standard is. Many people here have upgraded the audio. Do a search.

As for the grill, it depends on the grill you want and the dealer. Some dealers carry aftermarket grills and will install them. I just replaced the hood star with a flat star from Performance Products for $40 incl shipping. My dealer did not carry the kit. I got it quickly and it was easy to do.

Hopefully they're giving you a great deal on the 03 with the 04s around the corner! If not, wait for the 04.

Good luck!

At first i was 3 days away from an M3, but due to insurance issues I ran with the c32.. Regrets? hmm.. usually no.

Waaaaaay too many M3's now in Toronto this year.. So C32 would be a great choice since it's so rare here!

BOSE system is ok if you're not really heavy on the bass.. If you like to floss a bit and like the bass bumpin, then you will end up maxing out your 'bass' on ur deck and the cover on ur subs in the back will get loose and start to rattle.. Personally, i am goin to change my system asap.

You can search the threads for the CL-look grill..i think MB Dezent makes the best grills for our cars and i believe Harris from Hortonworks(on this forum) sells the emblems. You can get both from him.

Where in TO are you at anyway?

Canadian C32s do not come with the Bose system. It's an optional $1150CDN item.

I think the Bose system is a waste of money, as other forum members mentioned, the bass is really lacking, and IMO it's quite a bit worse than the Bose system on my ML430 and Acura 3.2TL.

I am also located in Toronto, and I have never seen a white C32 yet. I've seen lots of silver ones and a couple of Orion Blue (mine is one of them). If the dealer is willing to give you a big discount on a 2003 model, I would say go for it.

And Jason, how come you are not interested in the M3?

1) If you like a nice clean crisp sound w/loud bass, then DONT waste your cash on the BOSE. I've put up w/it for 2yrs and I am switching everything BUT my Euro comand. Not that the sound is bad...but if you heard GOOD then you will be dissapointed.

2) There are two type of grills out there. There is the smaller star grill(which IMHO looks real tacky)that you can pickup ANYWHERE for around 200 bux. Or there is the bigger star grill that is made by MH Dezent and Expression. You can get them from Evosport.

Simply too many around, especially in Woodbridge (where I'm from). Also since I'm always with buddies, the idea of 4 doors was very appealing as I was annoyed with crammed 2 doors.

As for the C32 being rare, I've only seen a silver one on the road (which I wasn't to crazy about), and instantly fell in love with a white one I seen at a dealership.

Thanx guys

Jason

Looking at the brochure now and here in the U.S. the Bose was standard on all 2002 C32, C320 Sport, and C320.

I personally like to set-up my own audio system. Being a true "Audiophile" the Bose is ok, but lacking for me. Let your ears be the judge.

AMG-UNIT,

I am from the Markham area, but I drive to downtown everyday. I got mine from the Thornhill dealership a couple of months ago (the car was actually transferred to Thornhill from the downtown dealership). My plate starts with the initials JC. So wave if you see me around Are you also in the area? What color is yours?.

And Zeppelin, you are correct in that the Bose system is standard on the C32 in the US. The original poster is from Canada, and Bose is optional in Canada unfortunately.

Canada and US has different option/standard features. Bose is one of the feature that is standard on the US car, but not on the cars that head for Canada.

don't forget to get comand if you want to get Bose. The Comand unit gives you better sound quality IMO. Mine doesn't have Comand, when I compare to other cars with comand, their sound quality is better.

GETTING HER TOMORROW!

Well guys, thanks for the info regarding the Bose system. Based on what I was told, I decided to grab the 2003 rather than wait for the 2004. We got it from the Thornhill dealership, and should be ready for pick up tomorrow afternoon.

I forgot to list the options:
- Xenons
- Rain sensor
- CD Changer

Thanks guys!

Jason - who can't sleep

Congrats Jason.

Out of curiousity, what kind of a discount did they give you?

Also, post some pics when you get a chance!

bose

I also have an Orion Blue c32, i'm in Mississauga.

The Bose system is CRAP. I had a 3.2 TL before, and that system was a million times better. In terms of bass.
Aparently, the bose system is supposed to be really good, except if you are looking for bass.

Also, I have been told that if you get the Command system, it is VERY difficult to hook up aftermarket subs or anything else. You don't really want to mess with a $ 70, 000 car. Mine came to $ 96 000 with taxes and all the blah blah, so i'm stuck with the bose.
