What do you guys think of the C55 estate?

There is one for sale near me. I miss the C32 and am considering a C55 or E55. Both have addressed the issues that caused me to want to sell the 32. But I am not sure if I think it looks good or not. What do you think? Are they heavier or slower?

It's the ultimate stealth car. Go for it. I love sedans but wagons are very cool too. Especially the ones that have over 350HP. I myself eyeing the 2014 E AMG wagon.

C55 AMG T with Kleemann K2 and some stuff: 414 hp and 576Nm :-)
Estates look very good!!! Funny, it´s my car on the picture above, just sitting at a cardealer in Germany the first time I saw it... Today I have 414 hp with a little help from Kleemann. Beautiful lines in my opinion, maybe 1750 made in the world. Pretty rare and very practical! It´s 40 kg heavier than a sedan.

+1. I'd love to have a wagon but all we get in the states are mini-vans and SUVs. And the few estates that we do have are not exactly sporty, E63 excluded.

eclectic assortment of cars
B6/B7 chassis Audi S4 wagons and E55/E63s are about it for performance wagons in North American, unfortunately. Hatchback Subaru STis don't count into that category, in my view, nor do the AMG and M SUVs. Oh, can't forget the Volvo V70R. I have a soft spot for that car, and I would really like one - except that I think the AWD isn't as good as the systems meant to be AWD from the beginning, like Quattro. And years ago, there were the Saab 9-5 Aero wagons, but even when they were current, they were outgunned powerwise by other cars. And FWD only. There were just a few MYs worth of Saab 9-3 Aero wagons too, some of them with AWD, but similar to the Volvo, I don't think the system is as good as what Audi or Subaru put out.

I don't think B5 S4 wagons were officially imported to Canada, and I suspect that for North America, only the US got them. I think the ones I have seen locally have been privately imported.

I think my absolute favourite performance wagon has to be the RS4 Avant, again, not available in North America. That opinion may change once I see the new E63 wagon though, that thing has got to be nuts.

Love me some AMG wagons, E55 and E63 are the only ones we get stateside.

That C55 wagon is gorgeous. Also, someone on the PL has a C32 wagon!

As for other makes of wagons we get stateside, don't forget the CTS-V wagon!

Doh, how could I forget the 550hp CTS-V wagon?!? They are pretty rare too, I think I may have seen one here. Cool car.

It's amazing looking and not much heavier than the sedan.

Imo the only issue is that it s too much of a stealth car, too discreat vs the c55 sedan
All depends what you are looking for, a familly ride or a Chick magnet lol

I don't mind stealth, but I know what you mean. Everyone looks at the 350z like its a gt2 or a 458 but no one even noticed the C32 which was heaps faster, in a straight line at least. I certainly don't need a wagon but it happens to be the only C55 for sale in the entire country so I was curious. I might have a closer look next month if its still available otherwise there are plenty of E55's but that will be terrible to resist modification. I am looking since 6 speed manual + peak hour traffic each day = bad times.

Most likely you will end up playing with the C55 anyway. The shape of the C55 sedan/wagon is really beautiful but the E55 has that raw anger on the front and it backs it up with massive power. A couple of mods and you are in the stratosphere. Rock solid reliability and acceptable power with the C55 or pure blissful madness interrupted by some headaches every so on with the E55.

Exactly. The C55 is the sensible option, the E55 is more fun but less reliable. The suspension is the main concern otherwise it is essentially a larger C32.

I presume the C55 handles a lot better than the E55? I would imagine the C55 is a more balanced all round car.

The pictures above are almost 4 years old and since then I´ve put some badges on it to make it a little less descrete... C55 and AMG are back on the trunklid together with a cromelist which makes it look a little more E-class´ish (fits the sedan as well). And recently I put on the famous 5.5 AMG-badge on the fenders. And that´s it!

I also have an estate. I like the possibility to load the whole family luggage including skis when on holiday. There's also no problem when it comes to overtaking on small swedish roads.

Beautiful car. I am new to MBworld. I have an ML55 AMG and I am about to buy a 2006 C55 AMG. Anything I have to look out for? It has 100K miles, the first 80K were highway miles in Maine and for the last 4 years the present owner only drove it 5K a year. It looks immaculate and is completely stock. Is $13K too much for it?

+1. I'd go for it. No C55 Estate here but seeing the E63 Estate rip around the track at last year's F1 race in Austin gave me chills! Damn good looking too, this lot!
