It is good to hear that they won't total it. Hopefully everything works out for the better.
I'm with you on that point.
The part that worries me most is, these can still be very nice, quick cars. Once totaled, you end up with a down payment for a Kia, Hyundai, or Honda...not a paid for Mercedes.
We are taking a big risk every time we pull our cars out of the garage.

Shucks to hear that you got rear ended, man! You're okay though, right?

I agree, the price gap between C32/55 to C63 is too much at this point. I am very surprised/glad that C63 holds its value better than even M3.

I rarely see any C63/C55/C32s on the road anyway, BUT, if you've got a good running 55 or 32, keep it as the cost to get into something comparable outside of MB is NOT worth what you already have as Scott points out. MB is going to much smaller displacement like the 4 pot Turbo that makes nice numbers BUT will be costly and may already be at the max limits of mods with about 25lbs of turbo boost.

Not as bad as you think for a nice PP C63 with maybe 20-25 K miles on it. Lookie at what they're getting for a CLA ($65 loaded) , so the gap isnt so great when put in perspective.

And yes, if your C32/55 is in good running condition, don't sell it. There is nothing in that price range that would give the same amount of luxury and power.

I haven't looked lately, as the last time I saw, an 09 C63 go for at least 43K, while C32 is around 10K. I would rather get a 996 TT or spring a bit more for 964 Turbo (965) in comparison to C63.

This is a bad time for 32 drivers haha I'd say dont drive your car, but its even at risk when parked
good luck pointman....hopefully your luck is better than mine. I still havent heard back from insurance. I sent in receipts on Friday, so now I just have to wait for them to determine if the receipts of work I had done increase the value of the car (which they do), then see how much more they'll give me.
Does anyone know if since they already determined the car a total loss, that now they wont reverse it to fix it? What if they realize they're going to give me much more than itd cost to fix it...still a total loss?

And nothing is final when it comes to big companies trying to save money on our dime.

that's for sure, just heard back from the insurance guy. He added $300 to their estimate of the car when I sent him $7k+ worth of receipts. He clearly did not read them, I told him nice try now go look at the receipts again and call me back.

Quick little story:
I bought my C32 week 1 for $14,000. Week 2 I brought it to the dealer and paid approx $8k in repairs. Week 3 someone rear-ended me, car was total. Insurance would only pay market value, which was about $14k. I argued beyond believe, only got about an extra $500 out of them.
Car insurance companies are awful.

So what did you settle on, or you want to keep that private? What are you in the market for now? C55, E55 or SL55?

Some constructive posting...

I always sneak around to see what is out there, this is my personal current best selection I could find. Lotsss of car for the money, private sellers will always take less if its cash out the door.
If that E55 is for real that low mileage and good that should be the best, but the sl55 is my favorite for sure.
