c32amg vs. new cla45amg
whats up guys new to the fourms but im a owner of a c32 and ive been looking at the new CLA45. NOt alot of info on them yet but the horsepower and torque are about the same. Just wondering what everybody is thinking how it will stack up to the old c32.

Isn't it going to be a 4 cylinder turbo? Even if the peak values were the same I would find it hard to believe the torque curve will look even close to the same. It looks fast though. I am sure they will attract a lot of attention for modifications but at 26psi there isn't really much room for improvement.

I have a C32 as well but ill be honest and say the CLA45 will probably kill the 32.
Below is a link to a drag race between an A45 AMG (CLA45 AMG will have the same engine) and a CLS63 AMG (shooting brake i believe)......
360HP VS 557HP
....the A45 AMG WINS! The A45 AMG has more BHP per liter than any car in the WORLD! It is truly remarkable engineering.
I'd start saving up...don't let the 4-cylinder fool you, its pumping out insane power. Although the CLA45 will probably weight more than the A45 i still think it will pull on the 32.

Interesting facts!
Maybe my Sportscoupe thats its a bit lighter than the sedan could be a good CLA45 AMG contender...

No, as in the opposite of yes. Yes as in agreement with what you said. No as in chance of beating a new CLA45 AMG if stock, cause of a slight weight advantage over a sedan.

Even if the hp and tq numbers are the same as the C32, the CLA45 is geared better, has a faster transmission with better spark interruption, has launch control, and also has AWD. Even owning a C55 with a torquey V8, I still admit the CLA45 is a great car that has technology superior to a 10 year old car.

Obviously off the line the CLA will win with the launch, but how much does it weigh? To me I judge a cars speed by how it does off a roll or on the highway. It could be one of those cars where the dyne HP is higher than expected a la b8 s4, or it could be a car with dyne numbers less than expected w/ drive train loss and all. I would suspect its HP is more than noted, due to recent trends by the manufacturers. I'd love to see one on the highway!

I don't think it looks that great but then I initially thought the 204 and 212 looked ugly but I would love to have one now. But lets face it, it is a better, more technically advanced car with a better transmission and a whole lot more improvements.
I would be very happy to own one if I could afford it (which is why I would prefer to hate it since I am jealous). But there will always be a better, newer, more advanced, more powerful car no matter what so I will happily continue doing burnouts across the intersection with my V8. Is there really that big a difference between 4.5 and 5 seconds 0-100km/hr?

The article says down at the bottom that it would read 31x at the wheels on a dynojet. This thing has awd, a fast-shifting 7 speed trans and race launch. I think from a roll it'll be much closer than the 1/4 mile or 0-60 times will imply...not to take anything away from it. Too bad no A45 here. Wonder if they'll do a GLK45?

2003 C32 AMG
Transmission aside at some point the CLS should have started to destroy the A45. What is completely awesome are the numbers they recorded in that race. Even if there was something wrong with the CLS and they raced again and the CLS won the numbers the A45 is doing are AMAZING!
Before seeing this video I did not care at all for this car but now I have to say that I like the idea of crazy 4 cylinder AMG. Why, because AMG can do anything well so its time they do it in a 4 cylinder. I really like the 2013 SLK AMG with all of the ECO stuff so I still think I am headed for that car but doesn't mean the CLA 45 AMG is out of the question.
