Carlsoon RS-sport chassis installed

Well, I've got the Carlsson coilovers installed yesterday. This suspension is very similar to the Bilstein PSS-9 9-way adjustable CO, very easy to change the settings. I believe the biggest difference between the two is their spring rates. My first reaction after I drove my car out of the shop: Wow! How come the car feels MUCH solid than before? It is definitely stiffer than my previous AMG shocks + Renntech springs setup. But the ride is totally bearable. I am on setting 7 all around now (9 being the softest). I will probably set it at 5 after the springs have settled. The handling of the car is SUPERIOR!!! Took a 45 mins drive last night on some twisties and the car is responding VERY well. Bodyroll? What is that??? Our C32's serious bodyrolling problem has been eliminated. The cornering is very precise and predictable. I have all the confident to attack any twisties on the road knowing that this suspension will be there for me. I am sure the handling can be even better if I can play around with different settings more. Carlsson has made one of the best suspension system for the W203/W209 chassis. Together with the PSS-9, these are the best suspension that I have ever tried on a C32 (and I have tried quite a few!!).

Harris, I only have one question:
Do you feel you can you out handle a stock E46M3 (or better yet an E36M3) now?

BTW lower 1/2 to 3/4 inch in rear.

Does Carlsson have this setup for an SLK32? I think the answer is no but it can't hurt to ask.

I have to try it before I can tell you the answer. But based on my initial feeling, I am 99% sure that I can out handle a E36.

Yes, those are BBS limited edition LMs. I flew to Japan & bought them in person.

Yes, I can get almost ANYTHING that is available in the market. No matter where that product is located. If you want a set of two-toned Gold/Silver LMs or if you want any pricing info, all you have to do is to shoot me an e-mail!!

Nice setup Harris. How do the Carlsson CO's compare with the H&R CO's in terms of handling characteristics.

I am in the process of improving my C320's handling, mainly trying to reduce body roll, and was wondering if sway bars in addition to the CO's is needed.

H&R coilovers are good. But I would say the Carlsson RS-sport or the Bilstein PSS-9 is better. H&R coilovers are too soft to my taste and there arent too much difference between H&R CO and my AMG/Renntech springs setup. If you dont want to go to the extreme and spend so much money on CO, get a set of the Evosport sway bars. It will reduce some of the bodyroll that our cars are experiencing. I think the Carlsson RS-sport gives the car a much more precise handling and response.

Thanks for your advise. But I dont like tire shines, they will make the fender and the rear bumper pretty messy after a day's drive. Any tire shine that you know which will not do that???

yup, several... thats what i am here for! I really like Zaino Z16. This stuff STICKS to the tire and does not fling off like most others. just clean your tire, apply with a foam applicator. let it dry for 30 min (I like letting them dry overnite) and wipe the excess off with an old terry cloth towel (not needed if you let it sit over nite). Your tire will be dry to the touch but it will be black and have a semi gloss to it. Let me know how u like it! Both of these cars have Z16 on the tires (and Z5 on the paint)

Hey, thank you very much!!!! There is no Zaino in here up North. It's not very justified for me to order just 1 tire shine, I'll wait 'till I've used up the Z1 and Z2 and order everything all at once.

Harris,

The car looks nice. With those coilovers, the car isprobably comparable to the e46 m3 (without evosport coilovers ). but the C32 will never outhandle the e36.

Well Ben, never underestimate the Carlsson-RS (or PSS-9) before actually putting on the 32 and try them out yourself. Since you guys will be able to obtain the Carlsson RS-sport in the very near future (hopefully), maybe you can put the Carlsson RS on Vadim's car, track it with a E36 M3 and tell us the results? We dont have any facility here in Van that can do such testing. So, I wont know the result for sure. I made the statement of my 32 will outhandle the E36 based on my previous driving experience on my friend's E36 M3.

Harris,

We're always happy to do any track testing, however it is not the suspension that keeps the C32 from outhandling the e36 M3. Quite simply, the C32 is not a BMW. It would need a lot of chassis development and suspension geometery engineering to out-handle the E36 M3. There are a few former e36 owners on the board, they can attest to this. The car has a much stiffer chassis and a near perfect weight distribution. The C32's suspension geometry is the same as the other C's, whereas the M is Motorsport tuned.

Don't get me wrong, I love the C32. And with the correct suspension setup, it does behave quite nicely. But each car has its limitations. Luckily, the C32 has enough HP to make up for the many of them.

Try Meguiars Endurance (the one with the brush) but just put a few drops and spread it around. Then take a shop towel and give it a quick wipe. This lasts the longest and only stays on the tire. Looks great, and lasts a long time.

I second that, Meguiars Endurance is awesome. I would recommend 2 coats for the extra shine
