Any South Africans here and what Benz do you have?

Thought to start a thread with a couple of local guys and see what they are up to with their cars. Don't think I'm the only Benz mad freak in SA or am I????????Share your pics and mods with the rest of us, thanks

I'm sure there were, we have Daimler Benz here in East London, on the south east coast of SA where they manufacture Mercedes Benz's, but don't know any facts or figures.

I use to live in Mossel Bay but we moved to the United States. I'm not local, but thought i'd post up anyway ... I just bought a lightly used C55 2005 fully loaded - nice deal I thought

And how did you adapt driving on the other side of the road in a left hand drive?lol I think that would be pretty awkward for me. Got a nice fine in Mosselbay the other day in my 55

C55 AMG
Haha, well it was easy since I wasn't old enough to drive anyway in South Africa. I was still in highschool when we moved over. Its actually really awkward when I go back to visit and have to shift with my left hand because most cars there aren't Automatics.

Hey Shaun, would be great to get some amg owners on this forum together hooked from SA. There got to be loads of okes here, after all SA is something like the 5 biggest market for amg or something crazy. Hard to believe. Well just recently traded up from the C32. To the CLS55.

Yes, we have tons of AMG's around and many enthusiasts which will hopefully add their bits of valuable info. in future. Its funny though we never got the earlier AMG's C 36, C 43, CLK 55 W208 etc that I know of? Its a pitty because the market longed for these beasts, oh well better late than never CLS 55 you sayI told myself that that would be my next AMG but just got my C in May so still enjoying her an enormous amount

That's some interesting mods, put some pics on, and was it just plug and play or did you need to do some wiring work. Saw this link on gumtree, a guy wants to sell a exhaust, maybe you can just weld it onto the old pipe somehow, I would just negotiate the price cause 9k is a bit steep.

Yeah tell me about it, I never ever knew which AMG was going to be my next, but one thing is for sure, I knew my next car would most definitely be an AMG, I am married to the brand for life... Such awesome cars. I actually wanted the C63, but the prices still a little high for me.. Plus the CLS was a really clean car with low mileage and every option under the sun That C55 is a beautiful car, when I had my C32, I was always so envious of the V8 sound and the Quad Pipes!

Converter Please

Hey guys, don't you think we should ask the MBworld guys to put a converter in the TOOLS section, I get so confused with horsepower and miles to the gallon etc, maths was definitely not my strongest subject at school. Wonder who we can ask about this?

hahah the diving is in Mozambique or Sodwana - hence the need for the 4x4

I don't plan to mess it up too badly... I don't think it'll have issues with the towing either!

Hey Shaun, suppose a good point for new guys... I think I been on here to long, am so used to dealing with the Hp numbers now, lol... not sure what phone you have, but I know when I get stuck some good android apps for converting to help you out... I particularly use Convertpad in the google play store, that's if you not an iphone junkie

Hey Steven, welcome to the forum

Yip car prices here are crazy, but what to do. Just trade in your clk. That'll get you close to your 55. As a matter of interest have you driven an AMG version yet. If you haven't that will sell itself to you versus the std benzes

Trouble is my CLK is brand new but the trade in offer is a joke

Also spent enough on speed fines to date so an AMG would be jail stuff
