Dynoed my C55 this weekend...

..and I'm not happy.

My best run was a 305 WHP
I have headers/modded airboxes/tune/K&N's and I ran a mixture of 100/93 octane gas

It was on a Dynocom dyno which does read lower but I wasnt expecting this low.
They were also 4th gear runs.. Should it have been in 3rd? I was expecting around 340 WHP and this falls way too short.

I have attached the dyno sheet here, check it out guys.

I'm pretty sure they usually dyno in 3rd.

Eurocharged only dyno'd my car in 4th to get a better reading of my AFR's at the top of the RPM's

Interesting.. do you think i'd get the proper reading in a 3rd gear pull? Would that account for the loss of WHP?

There are many variables at play (IE: Temperature, humidity, elevation etc).
I ran 305 HP and 316 ft-lbs on a Mustang dyno in 4th gear. My only mods are a Renntech airbox and K&Ns...

I am running Kleemann Headers (Mid tubes) with the primary cat delete down pipes. I am completely cat-less.

Any before dynos? I know it's difficult, but you have to think of the dyno as a tuning tool and look past the pure numbers. If you have a dyno of a stock car on the dyno, then you can see the changes.

This was my first ever dyno run in the C55. Im getting a lot of responses saying dynoing in 3rd gear instead of 4th will make a big difference though.. I'm going to try that this Saturday.

yeah, bottom line, it's just a number to start with. What really matters is 1/4 mile times. For example, you may dyno 300HP, but if you turn out 12sec 1/4 mile times, who cares??

If you ever tune or mod again, you go back to this same dyno and find out if you are better off or worse.

I was in a similar situation with my S2000. I didn't manage to find the time or money to get a dyno run before I supercharged it. After installing the supercharger, I had to get it on the dyno for some light fuel tuning, and only made 270rwhp (was expecting ~300rwhp). Rather than chasing ghosts, I just drove it and enjoyed it (and still do, but now I have 997 fever).

Later, a friend and I installed the same supercharger on another local guy's S2000, and it basically made the same power on the same dyno, so I haven't really worried about it since.

That said, now I have a supercharged baseline, and I've since added a big bore throttle body and J's Racing headers, so I would like to get out there and dyno again to see the gains those two may have made. Bottom line, the best use of the dyno isn't for looking at numbers, but for use as a tuning tool to see the 'delta' various modifications may have made.

Unless you get a before and after on the same dyno in similar weather conditions, don't get too hung up on it. I was very upset with my numbers after I put the supercharger on my car and then when I put the Kleemann headers and full custom 2.5" exhaust, I only gained 10 whp on the dyno but I got a huge gain of half a second in the 1/4 mile.

Didn't you run 140+ mph in the half mile? I think your car is fine! 3rd gear is probably the best, dyno mode makes it easier. Just go to a dynojet sometime in 3rd gear. I'm sure you will feel better!!

You did ofcourse run it in Dyno mode?
If you did, try clear ecu before dyno.
I have noticed the tractioncontrol is adaptive and controls the throttle, to the point were the car accelerates to 5secs to 60Mph no matter what power you have.
Almost i´m starting to guess it´s an 'G sensor' that restricts power to a limit.

With fresh cleared ecu my car just smokes the tires hard in third gear.
And cruising a bit doing some runs on street,, *poff* no more smoke. just in 1st gear.
The tractioncontrol has learned again, no better than 5s to 60mph no matter what.
If I´m doing a hard launch the car feels totally powerless in 2nd gear.
Clearing ecu.. BAM!! the car is running hard again.

I´m about to get reprogramming of this when adding compressor.

Rgds

No doubt a Quad-Ram-Air system made from some extra dryer vent would help. Hell, maybe try to add six or seven Jeep snorkels and watch out!!
