I recall reading on the site before it went down that the car did not have an LSD. So, my question, what does it have instead?

mb's own electro-gizmo probably...

Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Automatic Slip Control (ASR) ESP compares the driver's intended course, via steering and braking inputs, to the vehicle's response, via lateral acceleration, rotation (yaw) and individual wheel speeds. ESP then brakes individual front or rear wheels and/or reduces excess engine power as needed to help correct understeer (plowing) or oversteer (fishtailing). ESP incorporates the functions of ASR traction control, which senses drive-wheel slip and individually brakes the slipping wheel or wheels, and/or reduces excess engine power, until control is regained.

Anymore insight? I can't understand how the car does two-wheel burnouts if there is no LSD????

Is there another mechanical part that Mercedes installed which functions similarly to the LSD?

Regards,

josh

Even stock, open diff will have a certain amount of lock up before it breaks loose. This is why you can do two wheel burnout.

In hard turns however, it will only send all of the power to one wheel.

AMG ESP is basically a "nanny" to make sure that no-one gets hurt. True limited slip diff will make car faster by putting power down through both tires.

We are working on a solution, please stay tuned.
