Yeah, I noticed the C36 thing...but it is posted on an Auto industry newsletter page that is legit. Seems to have been written w/o much thought to editing.

Photos look real, even if BS is just BS. Not sure what's going on with those headlights. Back to square?

All of the above
C55 is for real

We were told last week in our sales meeting that the C55 is coming. It will be the engine that is in the CLK55 currently.

Keil, any more HP than 367HP in the C55?

ps, have you driven any of the V8K or TT V12 cars yet?

Bilal

I expect it to be similar HP to the CLK55. Changes in installation and exhaust from one model to the next may effect HP slightly but it will be the same normally aspirated engine. I am not convinced the 25-30 HP increase will justify the added wieght and it's effect on the handling but I am sure it will be a blast.

I have not driven a V8K or TTV12 yet. I did go for a ride with a technician in a CL55 that was being road tested prior to delivery. He was easy on it but the reserve of power and effortless acceleration were obvious.

I spoke to a customer recently who had taken delivery of his SL55, he has driven Ferraris, Porsche Turbos and several race cars. His quote: "The SL55 is the finest car I have ever had. It was worth the wait and worth the money!

Not me. Not with the new V8 unless they really imporve the suspension/handling (widebody will be nice too) over our current C32....or optional SMG or 6sp will do.

Its hard to compare a car that doesnt even exsist.

On paper, the C55 would be the better car I think, but its nothing that c32 owners would want to trade "up" to. It would be more of a side ways step IMO. Im putting money on it that with only ~15 hp more, and a few more torque, the c55 will not be noticably quicker than the c32.

Front end...

Wow - in my opinion, that new front end looks like crap... Guess I'll have to save for an E55 instead...

article not very impressive

I agree that I cant give much credibility to an article that has incorrect facts. I have no doubt about the C55 coming, but that article was far from impressive. Its always good to have the info and I thank the person that provided the link. I was surprised to read about C36 and C43 models unless this article was written many years ago and was actually referring to the C32 when rumors were flying about a C55. I did notice it referencing a facelift in 04 for the C class but I just cant believe that someone was that careless.

C55 = CLK55.

13.5 @ 106 = same as 2002 C32.

It is called saving money.

True enough; Mercedes has 37 different models for 2004 (a record year). The fewer the engines, the better the bottom line.

I'm not going to get misty eyed over the disappearance of the supercharged M112; it's a fine engine and I can go out to the garage any time I want to see it. The C class AMG has a long history of new engines; the W202 had two different engines, and now the W203 will as well.
