C55 AMG CHANGING GEARBOX MODES WHILE DRIVING...?

I did a search but nothing that addressed this directly.

With the three C55 gearbox modes (Comfort / Sport / Manual)...is it alright to change while moving or while accelerating?

I'm thinking it must be an electronic TCU change not a mechanical issue. Hoping so otherwise it wouldn't be a good idea to change while moving.

Any input would be appreciated.

I have done it so many times no issues at all on my c32 or modified c55

However, doesn't seem to work as well on my ml63

Same here. It just changes TCU mapping, nothing mechanical or hydraulic.

its fine. The book actually tells you you can do it, it just recommends not to because the tranny can get jerky based on whats going on with the vehicle, speeds, torque etc.

Thanks guys. Good to know.

The C32 only had W/S (Winter/Summer) and it didn't really seem to make any difference so I never bothered changing out of Summer.

The 55 though. Different beast.

EVOIIRacer - interesting to hear that the 7-speed gearbox doesn't like it as much.
