A/C, Heater Blower Motor

Anyone out there know how to R & R the blower motor? On speeds 1, it is quiet, 1.5 slight ticking 2-3, faster ticking, 3+ can't hear ticking but suspect the noise is being muffled by the air coming out. I suspect based on the change in ticking it has something to do with the blower motor/blower speed. I just wanted to take it out to see if there is a squirrel cage rubbing on something or not. If I'm "barking up the wrong tree" please advise.

Let me look at my STAR manual tonight. I downloaded the entire thing and have 3 binders printed of the whole manual (could not figure out how to save to PDF from startek). I'll see if I can find what you need and scan it in.

Cool, thanks. Scanned your post. I thought I was the only one that had lots of issues with this car. I too Love it but starting to wonder if the value I get from driving it is truly worth all the hassles. I'm sure laying on my back to do this blower motor will send me on a truly wonderful vertigo ride as well. My main fear is breaking something plastic because I wasn't sure about how to "un-snap it". Like door handle covers, takes lots of effort and a lot less you do need to know where the sweet spot is.

Sorry for the delayed response. If you still need it, here are the instructions from the STAR manual. Looks like it's not too hard of a job. Sorry for the blurry pics.

I also included the table of contents for the Climate Control section if you see anything else you may need, let me know.

Many THANKs. I'll see if I can remember to take some pictures of the procedure in case someone else needs it.

It was reasonably easy unless you have vertigo like I do.

The factory forgot to snip off excess tie-wrap that was holding up a wire harness (see picture). As soon as I looked up in side, I knew what the problem was. I just got in there and clipped it off. So it is no longer hitting the squirrel cage fan.

haha it cracks me up what a stupid little thing it was causing the problem

I never really use my AC much so who knows, maybe mine is doing the same thing? Glad you figured it out!
