Is there a way I can tell if my car has a tune?

I'm trying to figure out if my car has a tune on it or not. Any way to tell if the ECU was flashed at some point? PO says he thinks "Gerry flashed it with a euro tune in NJ through a group buy" somtime in 2012 or 2013.

Thanks!

yes, if the power keeps continuing to pull harder above 5k rpms to redline. Do it in 3rd gear.

Thanks. Is that just because the tune will give it an increased rev limiter or that's typically a dead spot?

Not sure I will be able to tell a difference as this is the only C55 I've ever ridden in. But I'll give it a try.

Even better. What is your gas mileage? If you drive 65mph ont he freeway and try to get the best gas mileage you can...OEM tune will be around 22mpg. The Eurocharge tune should let you see 22-26 mpg. I have gotten 26mpg before.

My average gas mileage between city and freeway is 18.9 mpg.

Interesting. With 19" wheels, I can get 23mpg on my 29 mile commute to work (mostly highway, but about 5 miles of back roads).

Not sure how much of an impact the larger wheels makes on mpg. They came with the car. I'd ideally like to use the factory 18's I have. I'm planning on running winter tires on those though. Are we able to clear the front brakes with 17" wheels or is 18" the smallest we can go?

Thanks for the info!

PS. Is there any kind of OBDII scanning tool that would be able to look up any code/value changes to key me into an aftermarket tune?

I have 19" wheels also. You are probably Eurocharge tuned.

There used to be a noticeable flat spot before the tune where the power would not continue to increase above 5k rpms. After the tune the car continues to pull harder up until redline.

So I just completed my commute home. I reset the mpg right when I got on the highway. After roughly 21 miles, I was at 26.6 mpg right as I got off at my exit. I will say I think there is a slightly favorable elevation change on the way home, but I suspect when I log my commute to work tmrw I will be within reasonable distance to that number. So I suspect I do in fact have the euro charge flash.

Thanks again for the info!

Why not just contact Eurcharged with your VIN number? Jerry keeps very good records.

26 mpg? The best I have ever seen on the freeway on a 100 mile trip was 21. There must be something wrong with my car.

eclectic assortment of cars
I've got 17s from a late 208 CLK for my winter wheels. But be careful - the larger calipers and rotors means that not everything clears. However, I think a general rule is that if it is an AMG wheel, it should clear the caliper - provided, of course, that the AMG wheel is contemporaneous with the model year of the car or its related siblings. For example, Monoblocks from 202s and 210s won't fit without a spacer, and you'll be hard pressed to fit 204 C63 wheels without spacers to adjust for the offset. Also, AMG wheels from the larger S or SL cars run larger diameter lugs (or it could just be the radius - see the 'R' number) if I remember right, so custom bolts might be required for that too. But then of course those don't typically come in 17".

Remember that C32s ran 17s, and the brakes are the same as on a C55, so if you can grab a set of C32 wheels, you'd be good to go. So 17" AMGs wheels from CLKs, SLKs and other C classes of the same vintage should work.

In my case, I was just shopping for winter wheels at the time and happened upon that set I eventually bought. They were just a simple five spoke AMG, if you see the first page of my C55 thread, there are photos.

31 mpg with studded tires, car full with skiing gear, 4 people and a ski box on the roof is something I should be happy about?
