Hi guys, I done a pulley upgrade and attempted an ECU tune on my car today, followed the instructions from Eurocharged to the letter and when I went to turn the car on again it wont start, the fan is spinning like a maniac so I guess it's not getting the signal from the ECU to turn off.

Has anyone had this experience? If so is there anything I can do or is my ECU now bricked?

You need to re-flash your ECU with the original ecu program or EC program.
The fan is on turbo mode because program has been corrupted.
Just re flash it again, it be fine.

Yes, reflash it again. Maybe even several times. This happens to me sometimes. And never do a flash on a weekend when EC is closed and not available for phone support.

Thanks guys, I'm getting the error message "could not connect to the DME" when I try to scan the fault codes, can I just hit the reflash button anyway?

Unfortunatly I have a very limited window of time when they are open as I live in New Zealand and their office hours are 2am - 10am :-/

You using the cable EC provided?
What software you using?

Yes using the black USB OBD2 cable provided by EC and using their EuroFlash v2 software that had been updated to the lasted version.

Oh ic, im using the ODBD2 drivergal_1260 software. Cable is the same i think.

I had problems with the cable on the first try and I purchased a replacement.

Oh so you don't have to use their software?

i'm using there original software its probably 3-4 years old now, yours is probably the newest version.

Just an update for anyone interested, still no luck, had the guys from EC remote in and update my drivers to try and connect but to no avail.

Have contacted the tuning experts here in NZ http://www.nzperformancetuning.co.nz who are happy to help me out in collaboration with EC, just waiting for tomorrow in the US to come about to see if I can a favourable answer :-)


Wanting to have this all fixed so I can post my android tablet headunit replacement project for you all to enjoy :-P

I ended up doing it very early one morning to match the time in Texas. Mine didn't work over the internet using the remote control of the computer but I managed to do it myself in the end, took a couple of goes to flash correctly. Where in NZ are you?

In Auckland CBD, I'm unable to talk to the ECU at all now which is weird, I'm hoping the guys from NZ Performace can reflash somehow.

I have a feeling it's your cable, these cables die quite easy.
I ended up buying another one.

I am in Hamilton, you can borrow my cable if you want to try that. Make sure you don't have a battery charger hooked up, that was one of my problems. Do you have any other mods to your car?

Had Dave from NZ Performance Tuning come and try a force write using the original file but looks like the software is completely corrupt, he's taken it away to get a chip change done now.

It may have been the cable that did it in the first place, I'll see if they can load the tune after they’ve done the chip change for me.

Thank you, if they can't load the tune for me when they've done the chip change I may take you up on that offer :-)

As far as mods I just have the 65mm SC pulley, CM30 pump and new audio system.

Are you sure? I always have my battery charger attached when flashing new tunes.

Yep, it was the one an only thing that allowed me to complete the flash. The electronics are quite sensitive and depending on the type of charger you can potentially change the voltage considerably. Eurocharged advised not to use it at the time. If it works for you, perfect. I found the whole process only took 10 minutes so the drain on the battery could not have been great.

All fixed!!!

Thanks to Dave at NZ Performance Tuning and the guys from EC, they managed to load the original file onto the chip and I'm back up and running again.

I'm a bit gun-shy about reflashing it again but I'll get a decent battery charger and give it another go during EC office hours, wish me luck!

Huge thanks to Dave for his help, highly recommend checking them out if you need anything done on your Merc, they were the only people locally out of the dozen companies I called who had any idea what they were talking about.

Replacing the IC pump today, intake temp is getting up to 100 deg after about 15min driving, hopefully it's just the pump :-/
