Anyone have a c32 SAM unit?
Hi All,
As you may know I have been struggling with my c32 to the point that it is going to be up for sale soon. Anyway I have to get it fixed before it is worth anything.
My battery still is not charging. I have put in new cheep alternator, taken out and replaced with rebuilt Bosh, new MB battery, and replaced the plug at the alternator.
I got the plug from a wrecker and the guy happen to own a c32 also. When I told him my symptoms he asked if I had aftermarket xenon headlights. When I told him that i did he said I probably fried my SAM unit. He said he had a similar problem and tried everything else but the SAM final fixed it.
So I am looking for a SAM unit or any advice on what else it could be. I would hate to sell this car for parts but I just may have to. I'm already 15k into a 6.5k car at best so.....

You can put any SAM you find, just put the fuses and relays in the same sockets like yours. After that do a initial start up trough STAR/DAS
It's easy and 5 minutes work!
Best if you put SAM from a facelift W203 (2005+) and you ca have more options:
- folding mirrors when locking the car (if you have folding mirrors)
- pasive cornering fog lights (left or right fog illuminates when you use a turn signal)

that's Correct You can USE any SAM from Any W203 just replace the Fuses And Code the Sam Accordingly to the Features you have..
but with the 2005+ SAM you loose Rain Sensor and a few other things.. I have been using an 05+ SAM in my 01 it works..

No that is with the purchase of the car. I needed a car bad and bought this thing on a whim for 10k then 1500 for wheels and all the rest in repair cost. Thing is it will still need some work after this.
Once I get it fixed I'm out. might try to find a clk 55 or something without forced induction.
Anyone in the Sacramento area have a star setup so i don't have to tow this thing to the indy?

- separate or combined
C32 is with separate, you can see on the front window there are 2 spots with sensors. One for rain, other for sun light.
On facelift cars is one combined, but you still can chose separate on the facelift SAM

I retrofitted the mirrors
Firstly i program it as combined sensor HELLA and when i drive it to the rain i noticed that the sensor dont work
Reprogram it on separate KRAKRA if i remembre right and now works.

You can burn out a SAM doing a whole host of things. Jump your car incorrectly=> burnt SAM . Fuel pumps go => burnt SAM. It sucks and it seems to be the last f'ing thing any mechanic looks for. When mine went you could actually see where it fried around a fuse.
