escort srx installation help needed
Can anybody tell me where the front sensors are installed on your car? For the life of me, I cannot find a place to put the two laser and 1 radar sensors with clear view. A picture would be great as well.

How funny, I also was thinking Australia and I was considering the same purchase too, which vendor did you buy from on ebay? Not much feedback on any of them.
For mounting, from what I see: the best place is inside the slats of the main grill for the LEDs and behind the main grille for the big radar can. You will probably have to move one of the horns, but there is mounting in that area.
I believe jcanibal is lower in the AMG mesh grille areas (but that is just LEDs not radar). Lower is not as good but may be easier. The SRX LEDs have an advantage of a "wider" shield so you may get away with lower for the LEDS, but it is not preferred.
Sometimes you just have to take whatever mounting point there is. Here is a pic just for a clue, different car similar radar system (SR1)

radar sensor is the problem
When you look at the escort web site the laser sensors look not that big. Until you get the actual thing that is. :-) They are actually quite wide and quite deep. There is no way they'll fit between the grill openings, let alone on the license plate. I am thinking about putting them on the sides of the license plate behind the mesh grill of the bumper.
The radar sensor does not fit anywhere though. I have looked at moving one of the horns and connecting the radar receiver there behind the grill. The back of the radar sensor will have to be pushed against the radiator. Fat chance.
Then I started thinking. The radar sensor is about half an inch deeper then the plastic housing that hood latch goes into (you know the plastic part on the top where the air intakes are connected.) So, on the passenger side there must be space behind the plastic. I will be cutting a hole there and putting the sensor just next to the fan. What do you guys think.

I think it will work, but it will be a close fit!
With the hood closed, shine a flashlight into that area and see if it is sitting "too high" for the beam to emerge. One more possibility I'll toss out, maybe you can disassemble the front radar "can", see if you can shave a 1/2inch from the can's depth.
Funny how these remote systems are always made up of components that are just too big. You would think that these manufacturers would understand that the making the items smallest size possible makes for the easiest mounting. For example the depth on the SRX rear plate LED bar is outrageous.
For non remote radar they seem to make it all fit into one small interior device, why not make size a priority for the remote ones too?
Right now I am starting to think about not doing the SRX install. But still hoping, and best luck. Who did you buy from on ebay?

no doubt: close fit
The radar sensor will barely fit there. the front laser sensors will be way down there (below the license plate.) And the rear sensor will totaly prevent any further access to the trunk opener (only remote will work.)
Yes, I will have it totally hidden (not hard to see, totally hidden) and the display will be in the ash tray. But ...
BTW, I bought it from Elite Concepts in eBay.

jcanabal rocks :-)
The pictures you sent helped a lot. It took me about 4 hours to do the installation. The front laser receivers are on the sides of the license plate. The rear one on the top of the rear plate. The radar receiver is under the hood behind the grill. And finally the display is in the ash tray. Totally hidden. Sweet.
P.S.
BTW, to send the pictures jcanabal took out his license plate and the front mesh, so that I can see the sensors. Then, he took pictures of wher his installation's wiring is. Thanks a million.

Thanks.
You are welcome! That's what this forum is about.....help and info!
I never put front liscene plates in my car....no drilling! (It's illegal here in OH but......)
I probably need to take out the mesh again to clean the sensors/jammers. This snow is killing me (and the car!)! I guess it's possible that being dirty can affect the performance!
So far I'm very pleased witht the ZR-3....has saved me 4-5 time with Laser only!
Thanks!
