Help on High Performance Air Filters.
Hi,
I was just wanted to hear thoughts about the different air filter options for the c32. I am thinking about replacing the stock air filter but I have heard various different sometimes conflicting information on this board.
Does K&N and ITG lose power? I have heard that these are more restrictive than the stock air filter. Is this true? Do people that have either experience better sound, torque? HP? Or does it seem slower.
Can anybody who has one please post your thoughts and observations?
Also I have heard that the oil from the filters have messed up the MAF sensor on many benzes from the e55 to the clk55. I suspect it is probably from improper cleaning re-oiling of the filters but many people swear not to put in air filters.
EVO,
Do you guys have an update on the air filter that you said you were working on a while back? You said it would not be restrictive like ITG or K&N. When can we expect this.
I would really appreciate all your thoughts and comments.
Thanks.

This a very old topic. The issue with the filters is the solid rubber surround. If you look at the design of the airboxes you will notice that air enters the filters from the sides. I.E. K&Ns have a solid rubber surround that do block some air, but I do reccomend them over stock filters.
Also the C32 has no Mass Air Flow sensor.

Here's a link to my dyno post, before and after K&N's. It shows that there is no loss of power in my case.
