inferior quality glass? Are the damaged fogs OEM Mercedez? If not I would suspect the heat temperature of the globe accompanied by how cold the glass would have been outside in cold weather to have "melted" of some sort. Its possible from the pictures you provided that, that is the cause of your damaged fog lamps man

Could you do me a favour please?
I would like for you to post a photo of the rear mounting of your fogs as well as the bumper section when the fog is removed but a front and rear view. I think my car is missing some plate or something from around my lamps according to a friend of mine.

The fogs to my knowledge are OEM, however they have a stamp on the glass with the HELLA brand label so it's possible they were replaced.

And sure, I'll be replacing the fogs this weekend and I'll take photos of the procedure. I believe from factory they use a zip tie and a bolt to mount to a plate?

I have no idea whatsoever. All I did was order some tiny high tensile steel allen key bolts and nylon lock nuts and mounted mine again as one had fallen out during my 1000km journey. Luckily I found it in time half falling out as prior to me buying the vehicle, they battled to get a replacement for the one side. Don't know if they just didn't want to buy OEM or were trying to outsource the part elsewhere.

I just replaced my cracked one ,

You pull the grill , the retainer are fragile , be carefull.
The fog light have 4 (wood type) screw one each corner , and on the bottom one there a tab that also attach to the fender .

The zip tie is holding the rubber cap for the wire to the light buld .
You can do everything from the front of the car .

Good to know, did you remove the splash guards at all? Front what I read you have to lift the car or remove the wheels
I'd much rather just pull the grill!

Wow that was way easier than I expected. All you need is a small flathead screwdriver to flip the little tabs up so you can pull the grille out and a T20 screw driver

Here are the photos of each side with the mesh and light removed. You can see the tabs you need to pry open - as mentioned be careful with these as they are brittle. Overall took about 10min per side.

I thought the center looked like where someone smacked with with a hammer but that's actually just a logo

Ordered a set of Lamin-x covers for the new fog lights. Since their site doesn't show anything for c55 AMG I was able to determine that our fogs are 90mm circles. 3.5 inches = 88.9mm so they will be a near perfect fit

http://www.lamin-x.com/3-5-Clear-Rou...p/sb-3.5cl.htm
It's common for that to happen over the years. BTW any covers for the fog lights will eventually burn. I had something just like that for my fogs and they became yellow and brownish after a few years.

Yea apparently a few other generations of MB have the same issue with the fogs, it comes down to thermal dynamics. Hot glass comes in contact with cold rain/water = shattered glass. And I actually grew on on kent island, right across the water from Annapolis.

As for part number, left and right are the same part number.
Hella p/n: 2308200556 or Mercedes p/n: MB2590100

Already ordered a new Hella. Passenger side was replaced last year and driver's side looked pitted and chipped. Polishing only made it worse. So 2 brand new ones it is. Thanks though.

I was going to get aftermarket super bright ones but seeing how long the stock ones lasted and how short my Chinese license plate lights died, cant go wrong with stock
