My first Mercedes - C55 AMG

Mr. Mustard in the library with the Merc - C55 AMG Build
Hey everyone,
I am buying a 2006 C55 AMG Premium Package, WCSII Comand, Bi-Xenon Headlamps, Blue Glass with Rain Sensor Wipers, Power Rear Sunshade, and 6-Disc CD Changer. Has a little over 77k miles, but has a perfect service record. The price is a little steep but I can't find any other C55 AMGs that are this clean with the options I wanted. I have a few parts already lined up to make a little more pleasing to the eye as well as replace the CD changer with a Dension unit.. I haven't burnt a CD since 2005.
Before I really start changing things, the first purchase will be Blizzaks. The C55 will be my primary car this winter, and hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me . I do however see good results with a good set of winter tires and careful driving.
Will post pictures when I get it!
Previous to the C55, I had a turbocharged Scion FR-S. Plenty fun car and handles amazing, but I kinda grew tired. I want something "less racecar", more comfortable with extra room - rear seat is essentially useless in the FRS.
Prior to the FRS, I had a few Lexus SC300/400s where I swapped in 1JZGTE engines and added big single turbos - HP ranging between 350-477whp. Other vehicles would have been a s2000, Kawasaki 636, Triumph Daytona 955.. that about covers the notable ones at least, I'll let you enjoy some pictures now.
Thats all for now

Thanks,
And I made out like a bandit on this sale, I wanted my next car to have the same if not more power. I always said I'd get a c55 AMG, and I'm finally in a position to do it. This particular one has full service records and has already had most of the more notorious failure points replaced / fixed within the last 100-5000 miles.
Anyway, I pick it up on Saturday. Here's some generic photos from the stealership.
It's a two owner, completely stock AMG will all the bells and whistles.
Can't wait to go get it! Transformation should be fairly quick, as I already found everything I want to do and can get it in a week or so after I pick up the c55

Well just got home from picking her up!
It's a blast to drive, especially in sport mode. Unfortunently, a CEL popped up in the last 30 minutes of the drive.. I'm to tired to figure out what's wrong today so I'll get a scan tool on it tomorrow.. Hope it's not serious. It didn't go into lean mode and it doesn't say anything about visiting a workshop so hopefully it's minor.

Bought a badass scan tool from harbor freight that will read ABS (Centech #60794 - on sale plus 20% off at harbor freight).
Found out the code was P0453 something to do with emissions system pressure too high, which led me to the gas cap. I don't recall it "clicking" into place last night when I got gas. I reset the code and reclosed the cap.. So far so good! Glad to have some piece of mind =]
Began killing off the chrome today =D

Nice tool is sounds like. Will be getting my hands on an Icarsoft soon though. How can you guys leave Jap cars. They are the next best cars after Mercedez

Yup, I felt pretty dumb when I realized it was the gas cap. I've had so many Japanese cars that it was time for a change. I was debating between a S5, ctsv and the c55 AMG. I got a great deal on the c55 and it seems that the engine is bullet proof, so I'm happy with my choice.
I've been doing research and I plan on lowering the car with springs. I can't seem to find vogtland springs anywhere.. It seems that H&R is the only option now-a-days. They say they only fit the c55 AMG and clk so I'm guessing these have the correct spring rates.
Part Number: 29392
Notes: Sport Spring
Manufacturer: H&R
Front Lowering: 1.4in
Rear Lowering: 1.3in
Any advice? I seem to only find posts from pre 2011 regarding springs.
In other news, placed a sizable order.. Front lip, rear diffuser, turn signal lights, dinoc Carbon to wrap all the silver, front plate holder, flat hood emblem, black center caps. Can't wait to put it all on and plasti dip the wheels black.

MBWorld Fanatic!
H&R make good stuff. Just beware the car is fairly close to the ground in stock form. Just make sure there are no major bumps etc anywhere you frequent. I lowered mine 1/4 to 1/2" with coilovers. Anymore and i wouldn't get out of my driveway.

Got the resonator replaced with a section of stainless 3". Really pleased by the outcome, not too loud but definitely not quiet!
Just got the first batch of parts in the mail. The rear diffuser is surprisingly very high quality build and was even shipped extremely carefully inside of a wooden crate.
Waiting on the front lip, center caps and hood emblem. Installing this either this weekend or next, not sure how I'm going too, probably combination of 3m double sided and bolts from underneath.

I ordered it off of eBay, I was surprised of the quality as I expected something much less quality wise. It was a supplier somewhere in Taiwan, it only took 3-4 days to ship and deliver!
I did find out that my AMG tips are too high (won't fit the tips and diffuser without touching) so I ordered new rubber universal drop bushings to drop the exhaust tips a few MM for clearance.

Finally got around to installing the front lip. I ordered this off eBay (user: TawianProducer *make sure you select the C55 AMG version*) ..yes I was worried about quality, but you can't beat the price. To my surprise, I was extremely satisfied by the quality of build and even shipping speed. The fitment isn't 100%, as there's a slight gap right where the inner "fangs" are. But I was have seen much worse. The gap isn't all that bad, as you can't tell its there unless the car is in the air on stands. The lip didn't come with any instructions or screws to install, so I bought short stainless boots, washers and locking nuts. Used a hell of a lot of painters tape temporarily holding it up and adjusting it so it was perfect, then I ran the drill through about 6 times in the few areas that both covered enough bumper for me to feel comfortable and also fit the bolt to get a wrench in. Overall the lip looks perfect to me
I'm getting tint put on and professionally restoring the headlights. Then it's time to add the diffuser I picked up. I had to order universal drop exhaust hangers to get it to test fit, and I also found a pretty neat tool that pops these bushings off way faster then the flat head or plier methods.. I'll post pics later

Got the headlights restored, so happy with the result!
Thinking about getting a set of these this summer. They are around the same spec as stock but with a slightly more aggressive offset so they will be more flush.
Also picked up a valentine1, concealed display and hardmount. Plan on hardwiring so I'll post pictures of using the glovebox light for a power source.

After seeing that no one explicitly made a valentine1 hardmount for our c55s I decided to chance it on a 20$ universal hardmount for valentine1 on eBay (listed under "1 nice rear view mount for Valentine1". Happy to say it works fairly well.
*you'll need to unscrew the lower shank to make the mount hang lower to clear the mirror
Next step: hardwire!
I don't care for the remote display, it's fairly chunky and there's very little room to make it look correct. I put the display I bought on eBay for pretty cheap if anyone wants it. Only option if I don't sell it is to flush mount it in the center console by the shifter. I've actually done something similar to my old Sc300 for the turbo timer.

The wheels are staggered replicas, I think they are supposed to be w211 sport wheels, 2009 e350 4matic wheels or "cls style" wheels
