No, only one battery that is in the engine bay. Buy the OEM one from the dealer; my original lasted 9.5 years.

No you don't require all of that. Just remember to disconnect negative followed by positive and installation in the reverse. Ensure no consumers are on when you doing this. After installation ensure to depress all windows and hold down for ten seconds then close and hold up all buttons for ten seconds. Do the syncing on the sun roof as well and you can do the end to end turn with the steering when car is on 3 times to each side I think it was. Then you should be good to go.
I had my battery disconnected the other day for about 20 min and I dint have to do any adaptive resets.
Most simple change on this car, remove and replace. Took me about a half hour, taking my time.
Any special procedure glass and electric sunroof?, or for another device?

you just hold them in the up/closed position until they click.

ExploreI have been using a SOLAR Memory Saver lately with any car I change the battery on. This will keep you from having reset things like Windows and Sunroof, and on more complex E and S Class a whole bunch of other problems. It plugs into the OBD2 Port and then connects to either a battery or, something like a jump box, which is what I use. here is one I found when I just googled. Cando OBDADS MEM SAVER

With all the horror stories i have read about burnt out light ballast and ignitions I would be scared to even try this on a MB. I am glad you haven't had any issues but...I have been using a SOLAR Memory Saver lately with any car I change the battery on.
