FutureAMGxx's C55 Build Thread

Hello everyone, I have recently sold my high mileage '05 C55 and just pulled the trigger on an '06 alabaster white C55 with 60k miles on the clock. I am much more comfortable with spending money on mods with this car since it is in impeccable condition. The list is a long one that I will chisel away at over time, but I wanted to get this thread started so that I can document the progress as I go.

As the car sits now it is completely stock with the exception of some dark tint and some aftermarket wheels.

Here is the list of things I plan to do in no particular order:
AUX input
DCTMS shift knob emblem
C63 Paddle shifters
Sprintbooster
CF Front Lip
CF Rear Spoiler
CF Rear Diffuser
Smoked Sidemarkers
Smoked Taillights
AZNOptics LED city lights and reverse lights
H&R Sport Springs
Bilstein Shocks
CLK63 Black Series front and rear sway bars
Strut Bar
CLK63 6/4 piston brake upgrade
SS Brake Lines
Renntech Airbox
Kevlar Intakes (A2730900182,A2730900082)
Kleemann Headers & downpipes
True dual exhaust with x-pipe
LSD
Dyno Tune
TSW Velencia Wheels 19x8 front 19x9.5 rear
Toyo 235/35/19 front 265/30/19 rears
Aftermarket Sub to help the H/K system.

So far that is everything I plan to do. I am excited to see what I can turn this car into!

Took these tonight:

I ordered the H&R sport springs on Friday so hopefully I will be able to install them on Tuesday! It says it will lower the car 1.4" in the front and 1.3" in the rear, lots of people like them here on the forums and I found a set for $200 new, so I jumped on them.

I really like the wheels you have on there. Those are the first ones I have seen that look good on this car. Let me know when you part with them.

Thanks guys!
Yesterday I plasti-dipped the rear emblems black, I want to go for a 'stormtrooper' style look with black and CF accents.

The springs arrived today but I won't have time to put them on until next Monday.

I see you have the TSW Velencia wheels on your list. Have you been able to find any weight specs? I recently pike up the TSW Max wheels and they are heavy. The are noticeably heaver than the stock wheels.

This is why I've decided to keep running the originals. They're forged, so light and strong, and fit perfectly with no need for spacers. To get the same results in the aftermarket would be $3k-6k. And since I just found the thread where Serpint had a kit mocked up for a 6-speed stick conversion for the M112s and 113s, I'd rather spend that money there and come up with something completely unique.

I have not looked into the weight of the Valencia wheels. Not ready to sell the current ones yet, I have grown fond of them and am going to wait on new ones until I complete some of my other mods!

Today I installed the H&R Springs and turned my rotors while I was at it. I was getting a little bit of a pulsating when I was slowing down from higher speeds.

New springs up front.

New on the rear.

Nicely turned rotors!

I still don't get it. How are people putting these cars up on jack stands. Those under your car don't by far look anywhere near the front lower control arm. So where are they fitted to? Unless you have those adapters for the rubber jack points which I needta make for myself from aluminium or wood asap.
How easy was it for them to turn your rotors? Here in my country, hardly anyone I could find can turn rotors with drillings in them.

Looking good, I also think the wheels look great.

TSW have a lot of their wheel weights on their website. Depends what you are after but all of the lightweight wheels such as nurburgring are a lot lighter than stock usually 10lbs lighter per corner.

There are little rubber feet along the bottom of the car that the jack stands fit on, I will snap a picture of it next time I'm under there! It was very easy to turn the rotors, I just took the calipers off and slid the rotors off. They go on a machine that spins them and cuts them down slightly!

Here is a picture of the rotor getting turned, near the red knobs are very sharp teeth that shave a little off at a time!

I snapped a few pictures after I washed it to see how low it sits now. The front seemed like it was so much higher than the rear after I first installed them. As of tonight the front has settled a little bit more from driving it today and it matches the rear very well.

That's one sweet stance! Looking forward to seeing it in person. Need to plasti-dip the back letters myself. Still love that license!

Hopefully have a set of custom-tuned shocks and struts before running this season with the Snake River SCCA in F Street, and give Sonny a run for his money. :> Polly be down in either late March or mid April.

Thanks! Yeah the plasti-dipped emblems are relatively fast and look great!
That would be awesome! A crazy different feel in handling for sure! I can't wait to have another photoshoot!

I would look forward to those pictures of the car on the stands up front and a photo of the design of them jack stands you utilized there. Thanks.
I suppose a lathe machine is the only way one can machine these rotors here, hence a machining shop told me to bring it through but all the guys with the rotor turners on your car cant do the job. Either that or they don't want to kill the cutting tool life.

My friend and fellow C55 owner picked up a pair of kevlar intake tubes from the parts department at Mercedes for me and we put them on the other night. His factory tubes had some holes in them so we both upgraded to these. You can see the size difference!

Yo man, what is the part number for those cold air intake tubes? Does the car sound different with them? (Unlikely to be a significant performance gain here, as you're feeding the stock airbox and filter. Looks cool though! :> )
