Should I buy a used 2005/2006 C55 AMG?
Hello. I havent visited this forum in a long long time. I used to be on this forum every day when I used to own a C32 back in 2003-2006. However I sold the car when I moved out of the US.
I feel like I need a cheap 2nd hand car. Right now the C55 prices are looking pretty juicy. They are hovering around 10k-12k for a 2005-2006/2007 (did they make 2007 im not sure).
Anyways the car would be around 10 years old now. Assuming the car has around 100k miles, is this car going to be generally reliable?
I dont want to get a supercharged / turbocharged car thats this old so my car has to be NA (so no W211 E55).
Can anybody provide me with some feedback on whether or not this would be a wise decision? I am still hoping to get 4-5 years out of the car if I buy it 2nd hand. And I am hoping the car wouldnt give me much trouble.

There pretty reliable for what they are.
Can have a few problems. Known problems would be leaking valve covers, but that's hardly a deal breaker, and easy fix. Clicking noises coming from the dash is a bit more of an issue as its usually something to do with the motors and things in the heating system, and depending which ones, its a pretty big job as the dash needs to come out. The heated seats don't work on a lot, mainly the bottoms. Spark plug change isn't cheap, having 16 of them.
There pretty cheap to run, for performance on offer. OEM discs and pads aren't much at all, and tyres are only 225/4018 245/35/18.

2013 C63 AMG P31, 2014 GMC Sierra (6.2)
I had mine for about 8 years and it was rock solid reliable. The only issues I ever really had were the valve cover gaskets. I always got compliments on it wherever I went too...

C55 is one of the most reliable/stable/dependable cars MB has ever built.

I had a few electrical gremlins but no mechanical issues other than replacing my power steering pump and MAF.
Previous owner had k&n air filters which will gunk up the MAF.

I would still be driving mine if not for the height of a Land Rover LR3s rear bumper. I was at 225,000 miles and was just starting to get some valve seal leaks. (a little puff of smoke after idling like at a stop light) was just about to order the seals and the valve spring tool when I totaled it) $10k damage, but no structural!. didn't even damage the fenders.

I am on my 2nd one and they are great value, just know the service history of the car you are buying and understand what needs doing and the cost. If you do certain things yourself it is easier and this forum is a great help
