WIDEBAND AFR&BOOST GAUGE INSTALL

Greetings all, thought i would post some pictures of gauges install, the afr has a o2 sensor that i put approx in middle of car, just after the two pipes join into one,so i can get an overall reading rather than just one bank, i tucked the wires underneath the covers going all the way up to the firewall and into the fuse box and follwed the other wires to lead me through the firewall, now for the boost gauge , silly mechanic tapped the inlet manifold for me on the wrong side, it is wise to tap into inlet that is closest to fuse box ie drivers side for rhd cars, any way i put the leads again through fuse box for a clean factory look, now to power these gauges i tapped into cigarette lighter wires, bought some 3mm ply wood, traced the ashtray lid and used a jigsaw to cut the shape, i also made up to little pegs to put on each side to prop out the gauges with double sided tape on the top and bottom of each peg, bought some carbon fibre contact stuck it on and the job is done, please view pictures, sorry i didnt take more photos, safe motoring regards Tom.

Nice install. Glad to see more people monitoring parameters on these old performance cars.
A few unimportant points. Mounting the AFR probe where you did is a bit too far from the OEM O2 sensor location. You are probably off by 0.1-0.2 AFR, not a big deal. The bigger issue is that if anything goes wrong in one of the banks, because you are doing an average AFR, you will not know which bank. But at least you will know that something is wrong.
For the Boost, a better location would have been the lower Y pipe. That is closer to the OEM MAP sensor. But again, what you did is much, much better that not monitoring.

yes your right,i wanted to mount it where you put it, but it is illegal here in australia, and we get hefty fines, they say it is not safe and that it can fly off and hit you, but we all know that ain't going to happen, looks neat.

I got the idea from a Porsche, bought all the original parts and then took it apart and configured it to fit my gauge it not just sitting on the top ,
I had to cut into that grill and secure it from the underside.

I'm installing one gauge with boost and fuel not sure if you seen it its called
wide band fail safe so you can set alarms or flashing lights on the dash or hook up a buzzer if at anytime the car over boost of fuel runs lean at high speed you can be alerted and let off the throttle.

[I]It's actually two gauges but in one pod, you can also do data logging, set all your own parameters of where your car is safe but at the limit anything over those parameters set you will get alarms or flashing lights. Display on the gauge can be switch which ever is more important for you to see in the digital display and the other is on the outside. [/
