Noob here....quick ? for you guys

I currently own a 99.5 Audi A4 and looking to upgrade cars. Turbo cars are fine, but after i upgraded my turbo and the whole works, i really hate the lag that comes with it and i want something that has the punch from the get go. I'm closely watching the posts about the Evosport kits that are coming out soon for the C32 because i'm looking for about 400 rwhp out of a C32. I'm currently only at 333 whp on my A4, but it was a struggle nonetheless to get there. And realiabilty is a big issue for me, that's why i'm looking for a C32. Can you guys tell me the difference between the 2k3 models and the 2k4 models?

333 rwhp from an A4?

I think that everyone is scratching their collective heads and trying to figure out how you got 333 rwhp from an A4?

As far as the C32 goes, there isn't any significant difference that I am aware of between the 03 and 04 (or 02, 03, and 04, for that matter). I know that they added a spare tire in 03.

Evosport is supposed to be posting some new research on C32 mods here in the next week or so. So far they are at 365 RWHP with 17 PSI boost (smaller? supercharger pulley), remapped ECU, headers, wires, plugs, and SL55 intake. I would just keep looking for their post.

Just a thought: If 400 RWHP is what will make you happy, it might be more logical for you to wait for the C55 and slap a supercharger on that. 400 out of a C32 is going to be pushing the reliability envelope and is going to be very expensive.

Nothing
Just curious? What engine do you have in the A4 and what mods did you do? I agree with Vomit, squeeeezing 400rwhp out of a C32 is not a good idea.

That would take a V6RS4 Conversion, Big KKK Twin Turbos, Software, Cams, custom intercooler, huge manifold, custom exhaust. about a 20,000 upgrade.
We have RS4 Conversion outside.
It will probobly smoke any C32 I have seen..
(All Wheel Drive, so not of the line, but in the twisties and max speed)
WTF are you talking about????

I could see a 1.8T apt stgIII being pushed beyond its limits in the 250 rwp range, but 333hp to the wheels means you have close to 400crank...I havent read about your car, so your gonna have to tel us wha tyou have done to it.

C32 quarter mile

I don't think that anyone (on this forum, at least) has hit an 11 second quarter with a C32 yet (without driving off of a cliff). As far as I know, best time is a low 12. Traction is the big issue. You might get into a high 11 quarter with slicks and about $8,000.00 to Evosport.

Are you married to Shirley Muldowney or something? I thought that I was a straight-line speed fanatic!

HAHAHAH....i know i dont know why i'm so into the 1/4. We all own such nice cars....and german cars to add to that. We should be into the twisties and canyon runs and track events rather than the straight line. But i guess there is just so much more exhilaration with a quick run here and there

If you have quattro in your audi (btw. that isnt the real quattro in the a4 anyway? not the 50/50 of the S2/RS2/RS4/RS6 etc).
you will probably realize a big traction difference when changing to the C32.

But I dont think you will need more that the stage 1 kit to feel that you have a car much faster than the a4.

I had a ride in a 400hp+ audi TT, and even if its lighter, and has more hp, I wasn't very impressed when I compared it to my RS4.
He had to work so much to get his power out due to boostlag etc, its not anything like the C32 or the RS4 where the power is there anytime. But then, if you are used to quattro, you will feel a bit helpless with the tracktion issues of the C32 compared to quattro.

Damn i'm so jealous of your RS4. My dream wagon.

As for not needing more than Stage I, is it really that fast? I was hoping to go with at least a Stage II. What's the cost of Evosports Stage II kit?

Just wonder why don't you choose the B6 S4 instend of C32?
If you choose the C32 than you will have a big traction problem on the C32 compare to the new S4.

Do you know the lifetime of your stock engine after all these mods? I think that's why you need to change a car asap.:p

Yeah i've been constantly contemplating between the B6 S4 and the C32. Either one would be a nice sleeper car yet very classy. I was just thinking about the C32 because of a change of driving. I even priced everything out.....if i get the B6 S4 exactly how i want it, it would only be roughly around 50-51k. Now if i were to get a brand new C32 its about 7-8k more. This is going to be a pretty tough decision.

vmsturbo,

if you really want to mod your car the B6 S4 would not be the way to go IMHO. Sure your traction will be good but overall I didn 't like the platform much.

I own a modded A4 as well but it only puts out 220 at the wheels. Nothing like your monster. My friend has one that is very heavily tuned and his is only pushing 290. That is amazing. However I enjoy the c32 much much more. That much power just feels restricted coming from the small engine and regardless of the breathing you can never get away from that fact.

My pick go for the c32 and mod it. You will not reach 11's IMO unless you go drag radials and fender roll to fit wider tires. For launch just can't beat that awd clutch dump.

My .02

Prasith

Ok, so maybe 11's was stretching it a bit. But with the Evosport Stg II should bring me to low 12's right?

Has anyone with Stg II evosport kits have run into any issues?

VD Turbo:

You are going to be the model customer for the new Evo 190 mm pulley/improved intercooler system, which will increase C32 boost to 20 psi, and bring you into the high 11 or low 12 sec 1/4 mile (with slicks). I would hold tight, while Evo does R&D on this new system. Maybe a few months. Mrs. Muldowney will be pleased.

333 whp

"I'm currently only at 333 whp on my A4, but it was a struggle nonetheless to get there."

Doesn't "WHP" mean "Wheel Horsepower?" Or does it mean "We Hump Pigs?"

Turbo: Is your point that I specified "RWHP" (meaning "rear wheel horsepower") when your car is front or all-wheel-drive? Whichever wheels they go to, 333 ponies to the ground out of a 1.8 litre motor is pretty awesome.

it is even more impressive considering that it is an all wheel drive tranny with much greater power losses to the wheels.

What did you mean by 333? Is that at the flywheel? or the actual wheels to the ground?

I know some people with 333 at the flywheel but to the ground is a whole other matter.
