Unreal...
I haven't driven the car much since, but everything seemed to be fine - no rubbing, good performance, etc. However, while I was washing the car today, I just noticed that they mounted one of the front tires on a rear rim and put it on the front (and vice-versa.) The caliper seems ok but the rim is very close to it. I thought the rear wouldn't even fit over the caliper on the front. And I have a 255 size tire mounted on a 7.5 inch wide front rim. Freaking Unreal!
This is all on top of one of the worst service visits ever. While they performed most of the work, it was basic stuff and they ended up keeping my car for days with no communication. When I called on a Friday to inquire, the Service Manager told me that he couldn't ascertain the status of it and I'd have to wait until Monday. I got it back on Saturday after I called mgmt and told them that I was coming there to retrieve my property. All the sudden it was ready. But they weren't able to replicate the problems I reported with my seat (squeaky seat syndrome) and my rain sensor (wipers keep going when rain subsides.)
To add insult to injury when I got home and read the report, I saw that they had logged over 30 miles on my car. I can't go more than 30 seconds without going mad from the squeaky seat. I guess they must have had the volume up too much on my stereo as they put the 30 miles on. So as I'm waiting on the dealer for an explanation on the above, I run across the rim debacle...
UNREAL. I'm afraid to take it back to these guys and am looking for another dealer to service my MBs. What a drag...
In the meantime, is the rear rim with the front rubber on the front or the 255 mounted on a front rim on the rear a safety issue?

Good Luck.
I would definitely change the rubber to the correct rims immediately. The rear rims do fit on the front as you can see. I run 4 rear rims on my car with 245/40/17's on all 4 corners, it makes for a better balanced car.
Good Luck.

I also know that some c32's are different than others. For example my FRD winter set up did not work on (the fronts of)another 2k2 c32!!
TIA
They do run close to the calipers, about .035 inch to be exact. They do not get any closer with heat however. I ran the rears on the front and drove it down Ortega Highway trying to heat them as much as possible then would stop and re-check the clearance. It stayed at .035 inch throughout the testing, so either the wheel heats and expands at the same rate or the caliper does not expand outward.
With this setup you are limited to a Toyo T1S, Pilot Sport or F1 GS-D3 in 245/40/17 for the fronts(strut clearance issue) because they are narrower than some of the other tires. They are all good choices for tires though.
Funny thing is during this testing I had the front tires on the rear(225's) and the car still understeered.
Take it in again, but mount a spycam in the car first ($99 for a good one on the internet). Then you'll see where they took your car for the 30 mile test drive.
