Advice on Tiers
Hey everyone,
I need some new tires. I want something "gripy". I live in NYC so it's getting cold, but I do not plan on driving in the snow. If it starts to snow unexpectedly then the car won't be in the road for long, I'll just drive it back to the garage. I think I want to stay with summer tires.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Summer tires are absolutely useless with just a little bit of snow on the road. The rubber compounds in summer tires aren't designed to work in freezing temperatures. If you plan on driving in colder temps with or without snow then I would recommend an All Season tire. I've been really happy with the Continental DWS as an all season tire. Michelin also makes a Pilot Sport A/S 3+.

I'm in North NJ, 10 mins from NYC and had my C32 since 2002. In the snow the C32 is not much fun. As others have said, for winter driving get Continental DWS. For the summer I have used Michelin PSS and Toyo T1R.

DWS also has great ride, and quiet too. I use them on my C32 for all season. About to find out how they do in snow too!

I am really surprised I seem to be the only one running the bridgestone ps-04. It is the next highest rated tire to the mpss and is about $25 less per tire.

+1 on C32 not being so much fun during snow.

Snow package from tirerack. Changes these cars from non-moving to safe enough for your non-car person wife to drive in all conditions. That means good times when I'm driving and it's slick.

Dedicated snow tires...
I live at 6400 feet in Denver area, run DWS for 3 seasons, then bolt on dedicated snow tires when the first snow flies (tonight).
Michelin Ice-x are awesome with long life, or General Altimax are good, but Blizzax have short life. My wife can drive any of these and I don't worry one bit.

+1 for the Continental DWS all seasons....
i'm in chicago and in a neighborhood downtown where the streets rarely get snow plow service...the continental DWS tires have never failed me to get out of ice and snow and provide very good stopping capability.
i love my michelin PSS summer tires when the roads are dry and the car drives completely different from the super tight Michelin summer tires.
but even a light dusting of snow those Michelin PSS would slide 20 feet with the brakes on and clearly you never should drive summer performance tires in winter which I have done and was not wise.
funny but i can tell you that my 2015 E63 S 4-matic with pirelli p-zero summer tires cannot stay on the road for **** in the snow despite 4-matic (nor should it with summer tires) compared to my 2003 c32 rear wheel drive with Continental DWS all season tires which sticks like glue assuming you drive carefully.

Hey All,
I went with the Continental DWS. Changing them today. It's snowing and I made the mistake of taking a street that wasn't salted and my god! Lesson learned.
Thanks for the advice!
