Shaking over 70mph
my cousin took the C32 to Washington D.C... he is on his way there right now, he just called and told me he is getting alot of shaking over 65mph.. what could be the reason? i told him to do the basics, check the lug nuts, make sure the wheels are on good.. but is it something urgent that he may have to put the car on the lift he doesn't know **** about cars so he doesn't know what to even look for.

ok talk to a friend with 540R wheels and he said it's the design of the wheels.. since it's reversed lip, water tends to collect in it (it's raining heavy in DC) and that throws off the balance on the wheel. I called the shop that installed the suspension and they confirmed it as well. Not much can be done but complain to HRE.

pretty crappy for such a $$$$ wheel.
You may check (if you have them) the spacers. Spacers not installed 100% properly will cause shaking and vibration. Check tire balance and last, alignment.

I hit a pothole and ever since I have some vibrations around 60 mph. The rim is not bent nor the tire buldging. I haven't checked the wheel weight but I think my alignment is screwed. Funny thing is that when I get up to over70, my car is smooth as silk. You think that exuse will fly when I get pulled over
On another note, why are you letting your cousin drive your AMG, especially one that doesn't know jack about cars.

The rim could always be bent on the inside of the wheel, so unless you take the wheel off, you may never know. It also doesnt take much of a bend to throw off the balance of the wheel. Certain MPH will cause the resonance, while other speeds my improve or make it worse

that is always a sign of imbalance. usually not below 55 and not above 70.... shakes just in between there...
have ur rim checked for bends on a machine, not visually... a bent rim can't be balanced no matter how hard u try... and after hearing u say u hit a pothole, it's possible it may have damaged the rim.. the less costly thing would be some wheel weights had been jarred loose, that's an easy fix. any good hunter technician should be able to find out in a sec or two if ur rim is bent or not...
improper alignment will not cause shaking...just lousy tire wear...which can lead to weird tread patterns after continual use like that...then maybe the tire can develop some weird stuff...but then, it usually develops patterns that are parallel with the tire rotation...so it'd be hard to notice any shaking anyway...
