2002 c32 amg
c32 amg,ignition coil, rough idle
Hi, Im from lincoln nebraska and about 2 years ago i bought a 2002 c32 amg mercedes. I love the car, I just seem to have problems here and there i cant figure out. Excited to be apart of the forum! Anyways my c32 is at about 161,000 miles. The other day it started running really rough, had a really rough idle, lost 90% of power and even wouldnt shift from first gear. I took it to the shop and the guy changed my spark plugs and it is running much better. It is still idling really roughly tho. After talking to a few people they suggested changing my ignition coils. Everywhere in town is selling them for 70 bucks a piece but i found some online for 70 for all 6. I figured i could do it myself to save money but am having a hard time finding much info on how to do it online on my exact car. Im am not experienced at all so i was wondering if anyone could tell me if they really believe it is the coils or something else and if it is the coils if anyone could help with information on how to change them myself that would be great. My check engine light is on but the only codes are 2 cylinder miss fires and a multiple miss fire code. Im not sure if i posted this thread in the right place but thanks for reading.

Cylinder misfires can be the coils, or plug wires, or injectors, fuel filter, fuel pump, or any number of other things.
Try a search for M112 engine valve cover gasket replacement. You may be ready for gasket replacement work too. This work requires pulling the coils.
Coils are really pretty easy.
remove engine cover in front
remove air ducts from front of air cleaners
remove air cleaners (one side at a time is fine)
remove plug wires from plugs (note there is an A and B side to each)
disconnect wires from coils (they are brittle so be gentle!)
use Torx bit to remove single bolt from coil
remove and replace coil
note the wires must be swapped by location and connected to A&B plugs properly
Start with the bad coils (per the scan) and see if the engine responds.
If not, the problem may lie elsewhere.
Here's a DIY that shows the coils and process for valve cover gaskets. Not the same as the C32, but close: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210...l#post11359242
