Thnking of trading in C32 for a Boxster S. Opinions?

Absolutely love the C32 it's a 2002 fully loaded 13K miles, no problems. Just a thrill to drive. Just really getting the new car bug and don't have a need for the extra doors or seats. They are making great deals on the Boxster S right now and would love a convertible for the summer. A friend has had two Boxsters and driving them is alot of fun.

I'm interested to hear if anyone traded a boxster S for their C32 or have any comments. Also any other recommendations would be great as well.

TIA

Keep the C32. The boxter is like a not-yet-a-Porsche.

How bout the new SLK55? It will smoke the Hampster S in every category, and has a real roof. Besides, you may be able to get MBZ to give you a decent trade value on your C32.

I second that! The boxster just has no styling...

Interesting thought, but when is it due out I thought I heard end of the year beginning of next? I'm looking to get something for the summer. Will the SLK 350 be available? In stick? That's one of the reason's I like the Boxster S? I'm going to the NY Auto Show this weekend to look at what's around. The new SLK is being introduced.

Well I say if you want a sports car you should sell the C32 and buy a Porsche. Yes the current Boxster is aging but it still is a fine auto. Many Porsche fans (those who do not fear admitting that a Boxster could be a fine car when it costs half as much as their 996 TT) feel that a Boxster S has a more finely sorted chassis than the 996. The mid-mounted engine is something the rear engine 996 can not match. Buy the car you think will make you smile not the car with the maximum curb appeal!

If you can wait for a new Boxster I would do that but it does not arrive for roughly a year and a half.

But thinking back to something I read a while back, I think the Boxster might have a bit of cowl shake and I venture to guess the SLK350 will not suffer from this. Looks like the age of the Boxster is starting to show being that the competition has moved a step forward in chassis rigidity while the Boxster waits for its replacement (997 needs to come to market first). And yes the SLK350 will be offered with a 6-Speed and it should arrive by September. Take a look at the SLK for I have read great reviews -- but don't write off the Boxster!

Car differences aside, when I had my Porsche, the service at the dealer was exceptional in comparison. They listened, cared and tried to do whatever possible to make you happy.

The two cars are completely different. I got tired of my fillings coming loose and having to rev the hell out of the engine (which sounded amazing), so I bought a four door mild mannered (when you want it to be) sedan.

But, if you are hell-bent on having a roadster, stick with the SLK or go for a used (maybe early 1990's would be in the same price range?) Ferrari Spyder (in yellow, baaaaby). Downside of the Spyder is that you will still get your clock cleaned by the C or SLK AMG, but man will you look good losing. . .

Of course, with the Ferrari, you will get tons of chicks. Unfortunately, you won't have any money left over to wine and dine them, as your monthly Ferrari maintenance and insurance bill will probably exceed your mortgage.

This is my opinion.

http://www.track-challenge.com/compa...Car1=18&Car2=2

If you want something more fun to drive, get an M3 and go to the racetrack

Maybe a Z3 M Coupe?

Sure the other one is a Porsche, but atleast around here, for anyone that knows something, a boxter is just a bad excuse for not beeing able to buy a real one

Sorry folks ill have to disagree, while the Boxster is cheaper than the 911 (not really when the S is optioned up ~$60k+) it has great overall performance. Even though its not a sub 5 sec 0-60 car, itll can handle itself quite nicely on the track. It hasnt received all its accolades if it was a crappy car.

Never have a i seen such performance accolades for cars like the Z3 slk, or TT.

Drive one, then form your opinion.

i agree w/ you, but consider the Boxster's chassi has been around for a while, I'd wait for something new like the Z4 M, the SLK55, Lotus Elise (not really new, but new for the states), or even the new Boxster (when ever that comes out).

If you want a real sports car, go for the boxster.
Boxster handles much better then our C32.
C32 can smoke Boxster in straight line but Boxster will kick our *** in corners.

The Boxster is a very agile sports car that can out handle even a 911, a C32 isn't even in the same league.

If you can live with the dated design and don't mind not having a back seat it is a neat little car. According to Consumers Report it is much more reliable than the C32.

The boxster S is a sweet little car... It really is butter, it just lacks *****. I think there are a few supercharger kits for it...or the gemballa conversion

The SLK350 should be available late summer and in a stick. Personally, I would at least take a look at it before getting a boxster. It is quite a bit bigger than the current SLK and it is supposed to be a big improvement. Reviews of it have been very favorable. And unlike the manual transmission in the current SLK, the one in the SLK350 is supposed to be excellent.

Upon reconsideration, I think you should go for the Boxster.

This is a good idea, like dumping Rene Russo for Rosie O'Donnell.

Not much of a porshe fan...So I may be slightly biased.
But the slk55 sounds like an awesome piece of equipment, i especially like the design. But it is a 1 model year car (merc hasn't been too kind to it's first 100 shoppers for any car)

For a 55-60k range I would actually consider a (cheaper - full 50k w/ nav + 10k alpina mods ) BMW Z...I test drove the 3L with my cousin a month ago and it was very rigid and quite fast. The automatic trans. was annoyingly slow, even using steptronic, definitely needs to be manual.

Or if you're feeling spendthrift the 6 series conv. is available soon (markup is shizzy)

Who am I kidding...might as well save your money and invest in biotech, cause within the next year the auto market is getting a pretty drastic facelift.
