Being this will be one of the first performance things I will do to my 32 when I recieve it I have a question. Since they are simply reprogramming the ECU and not replacing it how do they justify $2k? 25Hp seems worth it, but you would think the charge would be per hour of programming or a more nominal fee. Also if the difference immediately noticable?

i got the pulley and ecu upgrade a while ago and i love it, i would have liked not to pay the 3500 but thats what they charge...

speedtuningusa has a chip for $325 that develops 22hp. So for an extra $1675 Renntech nets you an additional 3hp? This doesn't make any sense. Can someone fill me in on what the difference is between the two chips?

It's entirely possible that there is nothing different between the ECU flashes. The speedtuningusa ECU flash is developed in Austria and is sold to wholesalers such as speedtuningusa and others. Mine has been trouble free for 1 1/2 years now.

renntech's prices are a plain ripp-off,there probably is not much or any difference between the two,their intake/ecu upgrade claims a 12hp increase on my model for $3200. but a powerchip ecu upgrade without any intake mods. nets 26hp, so it would be safe to say that you dont get much from renntech for your money,they must be selling prestige not performance

all i can say is look at the speedtuningUSA and the torque numbers they put out... look at the RENNTech ECU upgrade and look at the torque numbers.... remember... "HP sells but torque wins races" - Shelby.... so with that in mind... enough said....

i think i may have been a little harsh using the term ripp-off,i should have said the pricing was not competitive,i use renntech products after doing a lot of research and found their carbon airbox to be a good product in a market where very few vendors offer such a unit, eveyone i know has always been happy with their purchase of renntech products, but few spend the extra bucks to get their product that offers comprable benefits to a more economical product

why is it that I cant buy the carbon fiber airbox alone for my 03 e320....they are charging way to much for the ecu upgrade. Any business is better than none right?

i am right around the corner from j.r granatelli, from granatelli motorsports,who claims he works with renntech on ecu reprogramming techniques and data acquisition from mbag,but he GUARANTEES me 45 hp increase when he does the airbox ecu upgrade,when i asked george about this upon purchase of my airbox,he only said "he works with another one of my guys here"and actually he didn't say one of my guys,he said a name i dont remember,j.r claims he hooks my ecu to a computer at midnight and downloads info direct from mb in germany,is he blowing sunshine up my rear orafice?

there is a source for airbox alone,you order from them and you get whats called a drop ship directly from renntech,or at least thats the my deal came down,but still a lot of money,i paid $1500 for a 113 series v8 unit
