Shifter bushing came loose?? Car seems stuck in neutral
anyone know how to replace a shifter bushing?
mine just fell off tonight. after short drive, i went to park and when putting the gear shifter into Park, I heard a slight clunk sound from below the gear shifter and then found this shifter bushing underneath my car....
any insights would be appreciated. i found this parts diagram and can see where this bushing holds together the shift linkage to the actual shifting rod. so am hoping its easy to just snap back in assuming no other connector parts are missing. thx a bunch

trans shifting rod that needs to connect the little silver peg into to the slot in the shifter bushing sitting inside the shifter linkage <br/>
got the car on jacks and can see how the trans shifting rod came loose from the shifter linkage because the bushing was degraded... should be an easy fix. if you start hearing a metallic sound while shifting that is a sign your shifter bushing has degraded and you may run into this same situation.
the shifter bushing is #2039920010 and 3 bucks. you need the clip that holds it on also #0009945060 also 3 bucks. cheap to fix. car will start but not move when this happens

So I got the car jacked up and after 5 mins was able to get the shifter bushing on the trans connecting rod and slid it back into the shifter linkage.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put this clamp on the trans connect rod to hold it in place with the shifter linkage a lot.
Any ideas??? Seems you crimp it with pliers or something. It won't stay on the connector by its self it's a tad too large.

If the clip is number 19 in that llink you posted, it looks like those type of ones that are the c style clip. You would need to squeeze it a bit if you mention its too big ut before you do, there should be a grooved slot on the rod section where this would basically be tapped or pushed by finger over. Thats the type of clip it looks like unless your grooved section is what gave way and hence the clip cannot go over. Or you have not pushed the rod far enough to see the groove on the other side for this clip

thanks Khan, much appreciated. i need to play around with that clamp a bit more. the trans connect rod peg that goes into shifter linkage seems to have a very small slot that the c clamp probably has to attach to.
will try again..i have a tiny hose clamp on it right now which is some how holding in place temporarily until i figure this out.

C-clip is back on holding the shifter linkage to the trans connect rod. i cannot believe this thing actually holds these pieces together and with out it you cannot shift your car from D to P to R.... all good again!

I have no clue Morphh!! it was a pain to get the damn clip back on and how it popped off I will never know... its back on and car drives like a beast after the SRT6 motor swap. kept my supercharger and evertyhing looks same as i had it with the exception of adding the Needswings Pulley saver kit which ive been impressed with how it eliminates belt slip.
its not a huge difference, but prior to the PSK i would occasionally see 18psi boost with my 178mm pulley. the PSK added and its consistently over 19 to 19.5psi with that little bit more belt wrap that the PSK provides (thats what im assuming is giving more boost as all my mods remained the same as pre-swap).
i've actually forgotten how to best launch the car and just spin the tires all the way through 3rd gear before the Pilot Sports hook up. ha.

Does anybody know the OEM part number of the "C-Style" lock clip that holds the shifter to the rod? I replaced my shifter and the clip fell off after a week. And I can not find the part online. Thanks.

You can fix this yourself.... Jack up the front end nice and high and be patient while you slide your hand in that tight space to clip it on. I dropped it like 5 times before finally getting the clip on correctly and tugged it several times to ensure it wouldn’t come off.
Crazy that a 2 buck tiny piece of metal can render your car undriveable!!!! Good luck
