Traction questions

With ESP on is S mode, should you be able to break traction from a dead stop and pedal to the floor?

Same scenario with ESP off, should you be able to break traction?

Once traction is lost, will the car ever hookup without backing off the gas?

I haven't tried it but once, and the car was in W. (I was not trying on purpose). I am just trying to get a feel for what the car may do if I punch it to pull out in front of someone. Right now it does not seem like it would break traction. It seems to take til 3k rmps to really get going.

My feeling is that if you do not feel comfortable experimenting with your question(will it break the tires loose) then I don't think you should drive the car with ESP Off. The car may or may not break the tires loose it is all going to depend on road conditions and the condition of your tires. Nobody on this forum can answer that for you.

To answer one of your questions: the car should not spin the tires with ESP On.

Both will break the tires loose...but with ESP the gas will be cut off till traction is regained....ie SUCKS

with ESP off, you can at least spin the wheels and get the car sideways if you want....ESP still kicks in and cuts the fun a bit.

Thanks for the insight. I just have not had a chance to get used to the car (wife drives it daily). I am also being easy on it right now since the CEL is on due to the Air Pump and I would prefer the car be complete/no issues before beating on it. Just wanted to know what to expect as I get used to it.

Thanks.

Unless you have filled your gas tank with the garden hose, you will be greeted by a giant cloud of tire smoke when you nail it with ESP off. Even better if your wife does it

once you drive your car with ESP off, you will hooked on it like a rapper on weed... it's very very addictive..

p.s. this forum is not responsible for any tickets you get or any moving violations after turning ESP off.

please be adviced, if you manage to do that or even touch a curb, you are not on your A-Game, i then suggest leaving ESP on.

Well I finally tested it. Four times. Guess what...no wheel spin.

Now my check engine light is still on. Should be fixed Wednesday.

My question now is: IS something wrong with my C32.

I tried four time with ESP off(triangle lit), in S mode. I just slammed the gas and the car just goes, no wheelspin, chirp or anything. The ESP light flashes near the top of first gear though. Kinda annoying actually. It also flashed once on second gear.

The car has new tires Yoko AVS ES100s I think

Anyways, no wheel spin off the line. Is that normal. Reading on here it seems I should be able to generate a cloud of smoke.

I am going to try today by shifting down to first with the manual mode and let it shift on its own and see.

try this:

1. Turn off ESP
2. Switch to M mode
3. Downshift to 1st.
4. Press down the brake lightly so only front wheels catch
5. Press down on the gas... keep it pressed till the rear break lose..
6. Enjoy the smoke.
7.

Well at least I am not the only only one who can't get wheelspin of ESp off. BTW, i've got Bridgestone SO3's on my car - maybe they are too sticky?

ahhh did i hear bridgestone S03s? that tire rules too bad it wears down like no other tire... did you ever try and burn out b4 you got the tires since bridgestone S03s are very very sticky they are one of the best tires you can buy. I had them on my bmw but i just cant afford to change tires every 9,000 miles esp when the prices are that high for that tire..
