AMG Newbie My new to me C55
I have been lurking and researching since I was considering buying this beauty. I paid the high side of the market for this old lady driven 45k mile example but I am OK with that. 14k seems like a steal to me for this car. It came with new Pilot Super Sports and dealers records. Seems to shift hard under hard driving. Might need a trans service and TCM upgrade. Also sometimes has a barely detectable vibration at highway speed. Driveline dampening seems to be a possible cause according to my research. I am an automotive collision repair professional and I keep my cars for a long time so I will be around here for the foreseeable future. I am looking forward to being a part of and contributing to this community.

Very clean example! I got mine back in June and I absolutely love it. I've already done the Eurocharged ECU/TCU tune on it (one of many things I've done already) and it was the best money I've spent thus far. The transmission is much much smoother and the buttons on the steering wheel are no longer worthless, they aren't great but they are at least useable. Enjoy it and I look forward to seeing you around!

The TCU has to be sent in.

I am located in Texas, so I drove down and had them do both modifications with me in the waiting room. They are all awesome guys down there and extremely helpful. Can't recommend them enough. I use EurochargedATX and worked with Adam.

I am also an Amg newbie. Congrats on your find.
I also just bought a silver C55 low mileage car...28,000 miles. from an older lady that rarely drove out of her neighborhood. Great overall condition. Seems to drive better the more I use it. The interior is almost unbelievable. Drive a S550 (2012) daily, it's amazing how much cars improve in a short time. C55 feels light years old, but it's cool to have the cars of the past I wanted but couldn't afford when I got into the work force and starting my career. They are way cheaper now too! Look forward to see your experiences posted to compare...

It's a shame they didn't make more C55s. I've owned the C32, C55, and currently have the W204 C63. They all have things I love or hate about them.
I like the "M" mode on the C55 best. As it wouldn't auto downshift like the C63.
Both stock, when we raced the C32 vs. C55 in the quarter mile it was always a toss up. Both engines just different power delivery.
Enjoy that C55!

This C55 is getting better and better as I drive it more and more...putting that peddle to the metal. I'm really loving it now.

In this case, a slk32 amg would be a "real" AMG, EVEN WITHOUT A V8?
I've spotted a very low mileage car. I've been thinking if I get an slk, I should get a 2nd gen w a v8

Both the SLK32 and SLK55 are “real” AMG cars. The SLK55 is going to be harder to tune and more about muscle car sounds and feel. The SLK32 is more about being modifiable car with decent handling. You can get into an SLK32 for much less money than a SLK55. Second Gen is my preference but for me an SLK is just a fun weekend car and I wouldn’t want to dump money into modifying it. I like the interior and exterior looks of the second gen too. I think it’s years ahead of the first gen but that is a subjective opinion. Both cars are awesome.

Not much of a tuner type guy as I'm not mechanically talented.

Loving this car...i have driven just about every make and model since 2000. It is not perfect. But, the combination of price, power, comfort, and engineering are really hard to beat. I personally love the body style. I am not a fan of working on German cars but the C55 is pretty straight forward. I could have purchased a E55 in my budget but as of now I am really happy with my decision. Maintaining it should be easier long term. 400 HP and 400 TQ seems realistic with 16k spent (including upgrades)...I dont know where else one would go price wise for equal performance/style/reliability.
