C32
I had the opportunity to sit in both C32 and C55.
From 0-100 kmh sprint the C32 and the C55 will be about even (if both drivers are equal of course).
From a rolling start the C55 will slowly pull away from the C32 due to more torque.
The difference is there, but it is a small difference, it will not blow you away.
The only thing that will blow you away is the C55 awsome sound !

c32 vs c55

The 7/2004 refers to issue number 7 of 2004, the magazine appears every two weeks. The C32 quoted was tested in December of 2002. The cold air substantially helped the Kompressor as the usual times from 0-200 km/h for a C32 were one to two seconds slower.

2 seconds from 0-200 is an eternity. That 32K must been producing in excess of 400hp! The thing that gets me is that C/D tested the CLK55, with same engine engine and gearing, but heavier and that car managed 0-60 in 4.5 and 0-100mph in 11 flat. Based on these results if accurate, the C55 should match or better these results no?

The bean counters at MB are betting that the V8 will sell more units than the SC V6 due to the prestige or association thereof by putting the more muscular engine into the C class. There are cross over references to this motor across the MB product line that featuring this engine that will appeal more to the general MB audiance.

The insignificant power loss that is proposed in using the V8 does not out weigh the higher sales figures speculated. I am sure MB also want to compete psychologically with other Marques in the same league that now offer V8's. I believe that MB would also decrease sales figures for the model since buyers of MB would not want to share the same engine as found in the Crossfire. If some Jag S Type owners new that their engines were made by Lincoln, they would not be very happy about it. Fortunately for Jag, most owners would never think of asking the question as this is not why they select a Jag.

I doubt that. that'll only makes the C55 nose heavy w/ the added supercharger weight. It would be faster, but probably won't handle as well as without the supercharger.

The SC will add some weight, but not enough to really change the handling dynamics of the car. It certainly didn't change the way my CLK handled. Even with a SC, I think the C would handle better than the E.

It would be the same as the W209 CLK55:

Kleemann Kompressor CLK 55 K
Basis: Mercedes Benz CLK 55 AMG
404 KW / 550 BHP - at 5800 rpm
710 NM - from 2000 rpm
