First trip to the track in my C55. Hilarity happened.
I haven't been down a drag strip in at least 8 years. The long waits and short driving times lead to hours of boredom for me. However, some guys at work (MB dealer techs) were taking their toys so I joined in.
Due to the heavy crowds at the Texas Motorplex I was unable to find my friends so I hopped in the staging lanes. As the line moved and I got closer to the tower it happened.
Two newbs in Mustangs staged. The lights dropped and the kids went hammer down. Somehow they managed to get down the track without drama and the win light (no times shown) showed on the left side. We heard both cars grab another gear. THEY STAYED IN THE THROTTLE! Those idiots kept racing one another until the "winner" kicked on his hazard lights. Then, we saw brake lights. Next thing we know, the tree is flashing red and track personnel are heading towards the far end of the track.
Those two idiots ran the quarter mile, kept racing through 2,100 feet of shutdown distance, passed all three exits, and went about 200 feet into the sand trap meant to stop wayward dragsters.
If anything good came from this, it is the fact that both drivers were kicked out before they could hurt someone and my car got a nice cool down after being driven for 90 minutes.
The cool down period paid off the first pass was my best. Despite the mismatched rear tires (PZero on left Pilot Sport A/S3 on right) I managed to cut a decent short time and hustle down the quarter in a drama-free fashion. Longer engine run times and an increase in winds (20+ mph gusts) slowed the second and third passes. The stands block north winds through the 1/8 and you get hit with full force blows on the big end.
Anyway, this is what my stock pre-tune car ran:
60' . . 1.984 . . 2.024 . . 2.040
330 . . 5.603 . . 5.699 . . 5.728
1/8 . . 8.582 . . 8.695 . . 8.735
mph . . 81.73 . . 83.67 . . 83.30
1000. . 11.132. . 11.288. . 11.814
E.T.. . 13.288. . 13.448. . 13.512
mph . . 104.19. . 104.75. . 104.19

Just Mustang guys being Mustang guys, there must have been some innocent bystanders in the sand trap they were trying to take out.
Nice runs, looks like you would have ran a 13 flat if it wasn't for the wind. Did you manage to run it after the EC tune? Any other mods?

No other mods at this time. Other than exhaust I have no mods planned. This is my daily driver and it would take cubic dollars to make it a fast car and I have more important things to do with my cash.
I've got an old 120 motor on the stand that is awaiting a Grand Prix roadster chassis to rise from the shop floor.
