Please help me with a wired problem?
I have a 02 c32 and I have a wired problem. Every time I get on the gas my car sputters and the engine loses spark to no1 cylinder. I have to pull over, shut the car off and restart it. Them the prob goes away till I hit the gas. I had a p604 (small evap leak) but I fixed it as far as I know. At least I think I did.
Now every time I check the fault code it says no1 cylinder is misfiring. Could this be my timing chains? I took it to a indi shop and they said it could be a coil pack. How could a coil pack or spark plug make my engine lose spark only under heavy acceleration?
anybody know what this could be?

I had a random misfire in cylinder 1 and 5. There was a rough idle as well as trouble with acceleration. I did a full spark plug change ( it was due anyway) and replaced the two coils with 2 new Bosch coils and has run like normal or even better than before. Coils are not that expensive and chances are you can find one for under 40 bucks and replace it yourself to see if it will fix it. It could also be the wires. To check if it’s the coil, have the engine running and remove the first coil to see if it reduces the rough idle, if it doesn’t change the engine sputtering, chances are it’s not a coil.

You do not want to "try" new plug wires. That is a rather expensive path. Those things aren't cheap.
Swap them with another cylinder first to see if the problem follows the parts or stays in the hole. Then, replace what seems to be faulty.

This is actually very true. A single wire can be had at 14-15 dollars the cheapest for just one. I don’t suggest buying used ones either if you plan to buy them anyway

Dealer list price for the wires varies between $38 and $54 each. Few dealers sell at list price. The typical price matrix will push them over $65.
