valet guys are idiots...sorry to hear what happened.
went to the CheeseCakeFactory in Marino Del Ray long time ago. The valet there can't even tell the headlight switch from the windshield wiper for the car, and while I was waiting for table I saw one of the valet took a 540i out for a drive then came back after 5 mins.

Sounds like these folks need to be sued for not taking steps to make sure this does not happen.
Apparently, they didn't learn from this incident in 12/2000.
The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel is the SAME hotel where a valet totaled a Ferrari 355. He wrecked the car 30 feet from the hotel entrance..

attendant took a Ferrari on a joy ride and crashed into a
tree, a sheriff's lieutenant said Saturday.
Justin Burghardt, a valet at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel,
and another hotel employee, allegedly took the $170,000
car for a spin early Friday and hit a tree on hotel grounds
shortly after taking the keys from the owner, Orange County
sheriff's Lt. Larry Abbott said. The owner's name was
withheld, Abbott said.
The 1998 Ferrari 355 F-1 was severely damaged and may
be unsalvageable. Neither Burghardt nor his co-worker,
whose name was withheld, were injured. It was unclear
whether they remained employed at the Ritz Carlton.
The Ferrari, which can accelerate to 60 mph in five seconds,
has a top speed of 183 mph. Enthusiasts say the car, with
its racing-style gear shift, can be difficult for an
inexperienced motorist to drive.

Invasion just came out, It has Dado and the crew on the Cannonball In Europe. very carzy movie.
We leave on the Players run again in 3 weeks..

I have a friend who was a valet at a really nice restaurant here in Atlanta. He told me flat out-NEVER, EVER, EVER valet your car! He went on to tell me how most of the valets at the very least go through your glove box, console, etc, on a regular basis. He also said the scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off is so true that it's almost laughable.
As a rule of thumb, I park a considerable way from my destination. This used to really aggrevate my wife, but now she knows it's simply my M.O. and I refuse to let a stranger drive my beloved C32.

We just filmed Dado and The Canonball UK. Mischief Invasion, came out last week.
We actually cancelled our trip filming the AKA Rally and the Players Run late tonight.
We go back to Europe for the Cannonball UK in Sept for Mischief V
Rumor has it, the track is like a giant racetrack, it goes around Europe in a big circle 3 times.

I got the C32 back today.
The car looks great, I had the body work done at Fletcher Jones NPBeach. They polished the whole car, did a interior detail. Took 3 days.
1780 paid by Ritz Insurance
Rental, Kia Alantra Paid by ritz
550 Off my room bill, and a free night next visit, paid by Ritz
I will take the C230K next time.
So I am happy, and its over..

They gave a Hyundai Elantra not like it matters they're both Korean car companies any way.
Whenver I Valet, I go to the parking spot I want and then I walk to the Valet driver and pay the fee. Unless Im at the Dallas Galleria where the Valet are super nice. Most of the time I go anywhere I remember the trip meter. At the Galleria they hardly drive my car two tenths of a mile. Thats the way I like it!

Sorry to hear about that. I have never had any experiences when using a valet. I HAVE hear screeching in the parking lot. Idiots!
Use the valet key so they can't rummage in the glovebox and trunk. How many keys do current MB's come with? Hmm, the 600SEL came with 7!
