Exclamation Parktronic on C32s (and C class for that matter) possible?... (pics inside)

Whelp??? it is very possible, just not offered in the USA (though very common in Europe)
Here are some pics (Courtesy of the "Sunman):

Front Parktronic sensors:

Parktronic Rear sensors:

Dashboard's center console button strip with Parktronic button:

Front Parktronic "hump" display (notice the grill dash dial is missing, that is because the part No. replacing that dial with a grill only is in "back order"

Parktronic display for the rear/Dome light with 2 reading lights (located where the cabin rear light is)

Pictures are worth a thousand words people say... what do you think???

Why is not avaialble on C classes???.. whelp.. "Costs" savings on C classes.. to make them "affordable" inthe US market, US regulations mainly have to do with it for the front cornering amber lights that you loose when you change to Parktronic... other M Benz cars (E, S, etc) don't have that problem

I really like this option and i looked into it already.. the guy at parts said that it would run a few grand since the bumpers are diffrent not just the impact strips ( not sure if this is true or not but I desided not to do it).

Maybe someone can tell me if it is infact just the bumper strips that you would have to replace.

Mr. vimzin:
I am not surprised to hear that you were told "the bumpers" are not the same, here in the US, M Benz sales people, parts Dpts etc always have an "excuse" .

Regardless whether or not you have an AMG bumper style or a standard M Benz bumper, all you have to change on the exterior of the car are the bumper strips. All C classes come pre-wired for Partronic. as you saw on the pictures, you still have to get quite a few parts, wire harness and some wiring still has to be completed before the system is fully operational.

The pictures that you see is from a C320 from a member here on MbWorld that did the entire work all by himself!.. .

All the parts come ready to be installed, color matched painted, however, to get the entire parts, strips, harness, interior parts, etc, you are looking aprox 2 to 3 thousand US dollars, that is not counting labor, assuming you will strip down your car yourself . I had my car built with parktronic in Europe and as soon as I mentioned "ship to the US" bang!, the parktronic had to come off or the dealer would not ship me the car. Of course; getting the parktronic at the time the car was built was still a cheaper choice (about 1000 bucks).

If you install Parktronic, you will loose the amber light you have on the bumper of your car (unless you used your existing front strips --which is possible-- and you custom drilled them and got the rings for the sensors and sensors, etc.. the pre-painted strips come pre-drilled ready to pop in, however they don't have the light)

I've checked the price for the parts directly from Germany, and though the parts themselves are not really expensive, what built up the total cost was the shipping due to the odd sizes of the packages (for example the rear strip is about 100 bucks, shipping that strips alone cost about 200 bucks!.. twice the cost of the part itself!). One of your more expensive parts are the actual sensors themselves which are about 120bucks a pop (you will need 10 of them total , assuming you don't damage any sensors during installation of course ) and your time of course (when I have done my front lawn at my house, my mother in-law says that is “the most expensive lawn, she is ever seen”, not that I do anything different than anyone would, but if you “charge” what I would get paid per hour of work X the amount of time I spend, then I can’t afford to do it myself either! )

...just some coments...
NOT A SINGLE W203 comes prewired for parktronic...not even in the US!
NONE of the NEW parktronic sensors comes painted from MB - sensors come unpainted...and having the sensors painted improperly will get you stuck with a non working parktronic system...
I know germany has a weird chariging system for odd sized boxes...I can ship a rear bumperstrip cheaper from the Netherlands to the US then I can ship it from germany to germany...you need to look into different shipping posibilities when you get a 200USD shipping quote for just 1 bumperstrip...

C class wiring

Mr MBenzNL:

Wiring harnesses are needed. They were mentioned on my previous comment. With that in mind, the wiring harnesses do plug in to existing plugs that are in the car. Probably my comment wasn't clear on my previous posting... however the plugs and connections where the wiring harnesses will plug in to are present (My miss-use of "pre-wiring" should not be interpreted as "wires dangling" from the bumpers and "loose in the carpeting of the car" by any means).

I have not wired a parktronic system on my car (C32) --laziness mainly since it is not a "simple" job as it has been explained to me--, however, I have seen the schematics for the system itself and how it is set up on the vehicle.

About the sensors: The dealer that I buy from directly, though is more expensive, they will ship me the parts always ready to install (less to wory about as they warrant the work they do, in this case painting, which if not done correctly, sensors can be damaged). I had the same when I ordered the spoiler for my car, though they come unpainted, my service advisor knew I wanted the part fully painted, so the quotes always include the painting if needed. In this case, the sensors which need to be painted will be shipped pre-painted (though I have found already the sensors from another source "closer" and won't be having any of those sensors sent to me from Europe ).

My comments are based on the type of business I do with the particular dealerships in either Berlin, Germany or the one in Schlieren, Zwitzerland and do not/may not apply to other dealerships as well.
