113 Oil consumption
I topped mine off before taking a 1200 mile trip. Now it wants 1-1/2 quarts.
I will confess to dusting off a Mustang with a 120 mph pull but other than that I behaved myself.
The 112/113 engines had issues with sticking rings causing oil consumption issues. Most of the time, you could get away with using a can of BG MOA every few oil changes and it would help things. However, Mercedes does say that the engine can consume something like a quart of oil every 2000 miles and still be within normal operating conditions.
I know that some 113s use a bit of oil but not quite this much. I haven't bothered the techs about it yet.
For the record, I've been throwing parts at Mercedes techs longer than these cars have been in the market. I know 113s tend to consume oil. We don't see enough C/CLK/SLK 55s to get a good feel for the higher mileage/age oil consumption. In fact, we seldom get 113s these days. Those cars were far more common in the other store I worked at.
I don't remember your shop name from my wholesale days at PP and I don't see your name coming up in the MB Plano system. I assume you use WorldPac when you can. Who do you use for dealer parts?

Needing to add a quart or so every 1200 to 1500 miles is within MB specs for the 113 motor.
Tolerances on this engine are not as tight as other motors in order to increase longevity, so some do use oil more frequently than other MB motors.
My C55 does not use any oil no matter how much I baby or punch it, but my CLK when driven hard does ask for a top-off now and then. Comes with the territory with the 113 motor.
The trade off is they are very reliable and pretty much bomb-proof when properly maintained.

i wonder how bad a valve cover gasket and rear main seal leak effect oil consumption because most ppl have a leak.
when I bought my car from a forum member here he said it never had oil consumption problem. Five k miles later my car is asking to add a qt and a half oil. I do have a pretty decent rear main leak and I think valve cover gaskets are starting to go too.
im having this fixed by my friend who is a certified mb tech and has worked on hundreds of amgs. I will talk to him about it
I mean come on....are we really discussing this?
Let a qt of water drip slightly for a week and see how fast it drains. Im not even talking about stirring it around the bottle under immense pressure and temperature......just let it drip.
Again. I have another car thats on its second m133(swap) and there was never oil consumption so the argument that its normal on these motors doesn't make sense to me.
I was working the parts counter and one of the kids volunteered to do the job. I stepped out there when he pulled it in to make sure he dropped the cover to find the front drain plug.
Some of the young guys still have ambition and like AMG cars even if they're a bit long in the tooth.
I've been working Mercedes parts for 15 years. You think I don't know how these things work?
