Thinking about doing C32 AMG swap into my wagon
My 2002 C320 AMG wannabe
Just changed grille
Front and rear fenders are flared
I have had this car for about a year and half now and love every thing about it, but more power is always good. I have a line on a 2002 C32 AMG and am thinking about doing an engine and all that makes it work swap. I know that it is a ton of work but I think the end result will be worth the effort. I have the skill set and tools to do it myself, the one thing that will be a challenge will be getting all of the modules to work correctly. My car is a Canadian model and the car I may pick up is a US model. I would like to change out the instrument cluster so that I have MPH instead of KPH. I see there is a post where this has been do before, ton of great information. My problem is this, my car is just coming up to 82K and runs really well, the donor car has a 185K on it. There are a lot of service records on it but that is a bunch of miles. I am thinking a rebuild is inline before it is swapped out. I haven't started looking yet for a reputable engine builder in my area so I am wondering if anyone can recommend one here in the Seattle area.

The donor car was sold,so I am back to searching for another one. I hope that I can come up with a low mile example as that will save the big cost of an engine rebuild.

I thought that the CLK swap involved the front clip to accommodate the longer engine. That sounds like a lot more work and expense then the fairly straight forward C32 bolt in. Of course the benefit of a couple of extra cylinders might off set the extra expense. I think I will search the site to see if there is a thread on that swap. CLKs are sure a lot easier to find then the C32s so that is another plus. Thanks for the input.

You certainly can swap the whole front clip if the paint matched, it's not a lot if extra work and having the radiator support off will make getting the engine in easier but it's not necessary. The m113k with all it's extra pulleys fits inside the w203 front end. The na m113 should be easier.

My wagon getting either a 3.7 (easy engine only swap on stock electronics) or a 5.0 (cheap and pentiful but more wiring and electronics to swap)

Did you find a C32/M112k (or SRT6) motor to swap into your wagon? Love the idea...
I totaled my 13 year C32 and have the motor in perfect working condition so if I can find a c240/c320 wagon 4MATIC to swap the motor into then I will do that this summer/fall. Seems hard to find a c240/c320 wagon 4MATIC in decent shape...found a few with 150k plus miles and tons of rust for around 3k. Nicer ones with around 100k miles and no rust were in the $6k range or more.
If i cannot find a good c240/c320 wagon 4MATIC by Aug/Sept then I will probably sell/part out the car and the motor hopefully will find a good home .

I found one coming up at a public auction at the end of the month and there are two others on Craigslist that I am going to look at. I am also thinking about the CLK V8 swap. The C32 swap would be much easier but I see that there is someone who has done the W211 E55 and well a lot more work the reward would be worth the effort, I think. Just don’t want to end up with two nonfunctional cars. The other thing I did this weekend was a TCU reset which really woke the car up. I drive in stop and go traffic all week long and the car gets sluggish so the TCU reset made a big difference. No AMG but at least it kicks down and will get out of its own way when I put my foot into it.
