I don't what to say other than Brabus when using s/c engine, they uses AMG ones and then modify them. They don't use Kleemann superchargers.

oh yeah, and from the video that CLK looks to be a convertible. it also doesn't explain if that CLK's modded why is it so quiet?

listen, we work on these damn cars - both. We have seen/driven/raced both cars in stock and heavily modified form.

Net/net:

- straight line or freeway racing - C32 EVERY TIME

- road course - M3 EVERY TIME

The C32 will KILL an M3 on the street. That is just my *REAL* experience.

But Brad.....you have to specify whether is stock M3 vs stock C32 or Evosport C32 vs. a moded M3. 'Cause you know some people simply cannot accept the reality that a C32 is faster!

Mod to mod - C32 KILLS any M3 currently on the road - period! We have C32's with over 400 HP at the wheels!

I currently drive a 2003 M3 Convertible, and I was looking at the new SLK55 and C55, but is it worth it for me to trade my M3 for a 55? or are they about the same on a stock level? I love the M3, but the new AMG 55 cars caught my eye.

 

Depends on what you are looking for. the new SLK55 should be a fun car to drive like the M3 and the C55 will be pretty much like the C32. If it's me, I would keep the 03 M3 because it's really still a new car. If you must have the 55, then go for the SLK55 if you don't need room and go for the C55 if you need more room. I personally think it's not worth trading in any car that's only a couple years old just because there's something new on the market.

 

I slept on it , and I have decided to stick with the M3, after reading lots of msgs on the forums, I would enjoy my M3 just as much as a 55, plus I got the Stock 19's on it, and the car is Ti Silver, I would miss it , If I traded it.

 

kool...watever your decision is go w/ it. maybe you can get a C230k if you ever need a commuter car.

Let's see here...assuming a curb weight with added S/C of 4,000 pounds, a CLK55 cab w/620 horsepower would have a weight/hp ratio of 4000/620 = 6.45:1 . Compare this to a stock (Euro) M3's weight/hp of 3450/342 = 10.01:1 .

This is a 35% advantage to the Benz...if it were really pushing that much power, it you would have been able to have made a sandwich and eaten it in the time lag between the Benz and the M3 going by that camera.

To put this in perspective, have a look at some other contemporary cars' weight/horsepower raitos::

Corvette Z06: ~=3200/405 = 7.9:1
Porsche Turbo: 3388/415 = 8.18:1
Viper: ~=3750/500 = 7.5:1
Ford GT: 3390/500 = 6.78:1

All of these cars run 1/4 miles in the mid-low 12's, and one, the Ford GT, was tested in the high 11's by one publication. All of them will grind an M3 to powder in a straightline race, as can be seen by comparing the test results from any magazine to have tested them. And none of them can match the horsepower/weight that this supposedly-supercharged CLK55 would have, if it was actually producing 620 horsepower.

And we're supposed to believe that one could hang that tightly with a car that has a weight/hp ratio which is better than a Ford GT?? What's wrong with this picture?



And the owner swears that he "stomped" the CLK when it had 400 hp. Minus supercharger and associated hw, that car has a stock curb weight of 3850 pounds. 3850/400 comes out to 9.625:1, which makes even that story ridiculous on its face...unless someone seriously ripped this CLK owner off and just basically took his money & stuck some valve covers on his car!

I swear, some of these M3 guys could believe with no difficulty an M3 beating an F15...pretty sad!

In my experience the C32 is faster than the E46 M3 in a straight line. BUT, is that the whole story? Does that constitute treating Kain like the salt of the earth? Yeah so he is a troll, big deal. When you ignore trolls they go away, simple as that.

Before I bought my M3 in March 2003, I drove the C32 3 or 4 times, and it just didnt give me the same feeling as the M3 did at the steering wheel, to me the M3 was much stiffer, and it seemed as if the C32 was holding back, compared to the M, I mean I was serious and ready to buy a C32, but I test drove one for almost an hour, and it just wasnt comparable to me.
